Lucci was the first to reach God's Island. Death God had been dragged by Giant Crab near a Sacrificial Altar, and Lucci used Geppo to race after it, moving as though he were riding the clouds. Sensing danger, Giant Crab plunged into the cloud layer like a diver.
"Trying to escape?"
Lucci snorted and dove after it. He closed the distance in a flash and lashed out with a kick.
"Rankyaku—Amane Dachi!"
His leg cut through the air, sending a crescent of blue wind flying. With a boom, it carved a huge rift through the clouds. A moment later, an agonized shriek rose from beneath Lucci's feet.
Before long, Giant Crab floated back up, belly-first. Lucci snorted, grabbed it with one hand, and dragged it ashore.
Then Lucci roasted Giant Crab and started eating. He was enjoying his meal when a dog suddenly came running over.
The dog had clearly caught the smell of roasting meat. It was no ordinary dog, though. It belonged to God's Priest, and its name was Saint Jay.
"Want some?"
Lucci gave Saint Jay a cold look and tossed over a piece of crab meat.
"Woof, woof..."
The crab meat smelled delicious, but Lucci looked fierce enough to make Saint Jay wary. Lucci ignored him and went on eating.
Saint Jay thought, He doesn't look so scary. I'm God's Priest's dog. What have I got to be afraid of?
After a while, Saint Jay worked up his courage and marched proudly toward the crab meat. Just as he picked it up, a cold shout rang in his ears. "Flying Finger Pistol!"
A streak of white light shot toward him. With a thud, Saint Jay toppled over and lay still.
Lucci muttered to himself, "A change of flavor sounds good. Dog meat should taste all right."
