Background

Lu Lu died in a traffic accident in another world and reincarnated in Japan approximately ten years before the story. An elderly couple found and raised him; after their deaths the previous year, he inherited their Setagaya villa and lived alone as a Tokyo high-school student. 1 2

Following a persistent fever, Lu Lu awakened Star Platinum. He initially assumed the world resembled JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, but his first encounter with a Cursed Spirit revealed that cursed energy and jujutsu society also exist. 1 3

After independently exorcising a Grade 4 Cursed Spirit, Lu Lu was approached by two Zenin Family members seeking to force him into their custody. He rejected the family, killed the Gold and Silver brothers in a single attack, and drew the attention of Satoru Gojo. 3 4

Gojo offered him a route to Jujutsu High rather than execution or unconditional submission to the Zenin Family. Lu Lu accepted for the protection and opportunities for growth the school could provide, particularly access to Gojo’s knowledge. 4 5

Suguru Geto subsequently tried to recruit Lu Lu through the Time Vessel Association. Lu Lu refused, fought Geto’s cursed-spirit avatar, and reported the attack to Gojo and Masamichi Yaga. Yaga then formally enrolled him at Tokyo Jujutsu High under Gojo’s instruction. 9 10 11
