Ch. 101A Third Dungeon Specialty

Chapter Summary: “A Third Dungeon Specialty”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • A huge group of normally harmless Puchis gathers at the Dungeon entrance, releasing spores that create a dangerous fog. Several novice adventurers are poisoned and collapse.
  • Adventurers speculate that the Puchis are expanding because the Dungeon can no longer provide enough room for them to grow. Their mycelium spreads underground beyond the Dungeon’s boundaries.
  • The mycelial network outside eventually connects with the network inside the Dungeon. Once this is accomplished, the Puchis disperse and return to their usual harmless behavior.
  • The next day, Delicious Mushrooms begin growing throughout the nearby wilderness forest. Adventurers, townspeople, and even residents from neighboring Margery Town rush to harvest them.
  • The mushrooms are quickly picked clean, but people also collect other edible mushrooms and poisonous varieties useful for potion-making.
  • A farming boy named Mika realizes that the mushrooms grow from underground mycelium. He begins digging up soil containing mycelium so he can cultivate mushrooms at home.
  • Other civilians admire Mika’s idea and imitate him, collecting large quantities of mycelium-covered soil. This suggests that Delicious Mushrooms may soon become an artificially cultivated resource.

Character Developments

  • Lucifer demonstrates strategic adaptability. After overhearing the adventurers discuss the possibility of cultivating Delicious Mushrooms, he recognizes that spreading mycelium aboveground could benefit both the Dungeon and the local population.
  • The adventurer captain provides a practical explanation for the Puchis’ behavior and recognizes the possibility of a new economic resource.
  • Mika is established as clever, observant, and confident in his farming abilities. Though he lacks the strength to become an adventurer, he identifies a way to turn the mushroom discovery into a livelihood.
  • Mika’s companion supports and praises his ingenuity, reinforcing Mika’s reputation as the smartest boy in his village.
  • The townspeople and adventurers shift quickly from curiosity to enthusiasm, first gathering mushrooms and then copying Mika’s cultivation plan.

Significant Themes

  • Adaptation and expansion: The Puchis and their mycelial network continue spreading beyond the Dungeon, showing the Dungeon ecosystem’s ability to adapt to new environments.
  • Natural resources and economic opportunity: Delicious Mushrooms may become a major industry, giving Adventurer Town a third Dungeon specialty alongside Steel Slimes and Purple Poison Giant Mosquitoes.
  • Innovation through observation: Mika reaches an important breakthrough simply by noticing the relationship between mushrooms and mycelium.
  • Cooperation and imitation: Once Mika shares his idea, the wider community quickly adopts it, suggesting that local prosperity may grow through shared knowledge.
  • The changing role of ordinary people: Wealth and progress are not limited to adventurers; farmers and civilians may benefit directly from Dungeon-related resources.

Character Interactions

  • The guards and adventurers discuss the unusual Puchi gathering and try to determine its purpose.
  • The adventurer captain offers a cautious interpretation, while a mage and other adventurers speculate about the economic implications.
  • Lucifer listens through the Mycelial Network and uses the adventurers’ conversation to reconsider his plans.
  • Mika explains his cultivation idea to his companion, who praises him.
  • When other people notice the boys collecting mycelium, Mika openly shares his plan, prompting the entire crowd to begin gathering soil for mushroom cultivation.

Ch. 102False Human

Summary of “False Human”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Three days after the Delicious Mushroom’s discovery, Mika successfully cultivates mushrooms beneath wood chips in a harvested wheat field.
  • His village celebrates and reports the achievement to Lord Korien Os of Margery Town.
  • Korien Os personally questions Mika, appoints him as the territory’s official mushroom cultivator, and orders mushroom cultivation throughout his towns and villages.
  • This widespread cultivation allows Lucifer’s Mycelial Network to expand rapidly across Adventurer Town, Margery Town, and nearby settlements, greatly improving his ability to gather information.
  • Because the network can only passively collect scattered intelligence, Lucifer decides to create monsters capable of actively infiltrating society.
  • Using Mimic Monster gel, Elemental Slime material, water-element Magic Crystals, and an Intermediate Professional Soul, Lucifer creates a new monster species: the False Human.
  • He spends 150 Primordial Power to create thirty additional False Humans, bringing the total to thirty-one. They are distributed across the Dungeon’s first four floors.
  • One False Human infiltrates an adventuring party by replacing a female thief. After secretly approaching a treasure chest, it returns to the group and convincingly imitates the thief’s appearance, behavior, and speech.

Character Developments

  • Mika proves both talented and generous. He willingly shares his mushroom-growing methods because he wants the technique to improve people’s lives.
  • Korien Os is portrayed as a practical, capable, and unusually cooperative ruler. Rather than exploiting Mika personally, he supports the cultivation project across his entire territory, earning Lucifer’s approval.
  • Lucifer advances from passive information gathering to deliberate espionage. He demonstrates strategic planning by designing the False Humans specifically for infiltration and intelligence collection.
  • The False Humans are established as terrifyingly sophisticated infiltrators. They can reproduce not only a creature’s body but also its memories, personality, instincts, skills, profession, and soul.

Significant Themes

  • Knowledge and control: The mushroom network gives Lucifer access to a growing flow of information, turning agriculture into a tool of surveillance and territorial influence.
  • Cooperation and exploitation: Mika’s invention benefits the population, while Lucifer secretly uses the resulting spread of mushrooms to expand his own intelligence network.
  • Identity and imitation: The False Humans blur the boundary between genuine people and perfect copies, raising the threat that anyone may secretly have been replaced.
  • Hidden invasion: The chapter shifts from open monster attacks to infiltration, psychological manipulation, and gradual replacement from within.
  • Power through systems: Lucifer’s influence grows not only through combat but through interconnected networks—first fungal, then biological and social.

Character Interactions

  • Mika works respectfully with the village chief, who encourages him to organize and share his cultivation methods.
  • The village chief and villagers celebrate Mika’s success and hope his discovery will bring rewards to the community.
  • Korien Os treats Mika seriously and grants him authority, creating a mutually beneficial relationship between the young cultivator and the lord.
  • Lucifer evaluates Korien Os’s actions approvingly, recognizing the lord as an important ally in expanding the Mycelial Network.
  • The False Human interacts with an adventurer captain while disguised as the party’s thief. Its fabricated excuse and altered facial expression convince the group, demonstrating that the new monster can successfully deceive even close companions.

Ch. 103False Human Chasing into the Sixth Layer Ruins

Chapter Summary

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Aik leads the Ironblood Thorns Squad, Viscount Korien Os’s elite knights, and several squads from the Oss Family to the Sixth Layer’s underground ruins.
  • Determined to redeem his previous failure—when only he and Ghost survived—Aik devises a cautious plan. He sends groups into the ruins according to strength, hoping to determine whether the ruins assign dangers based on an intruder’s level.
  • Nearly one hundred knights enter first, followed by intermediate-level squads. Aik, Ghost, Oruona, Red Rose, and the Advanced Professional squads enter last.
  • The group successfully passes the Molten Iron Golems at the entrance and proceeds through the ancient, moss-covered corridors. Assassins, thieves, and an advanced Machinist work together to detect and avoid hidden traps.
  • Meanwhile, Lucifer’s first False Human monster follows Aik’s group into the ruins. Because of its special nature, the entrance golems ignore it.
  • Using a Red Rose to track the captured Flower Fairy, the False Human locates Aik’s party. It touches the ruins’ mycelium network, gaining awareness of events throughout the underground complex.
  • The False Human chooses a group of five Intermediate Professionals as its first potential host targets. They are trapped by endlessly regenerating Green-skin Goblins while attempting to reach a Mithril Chest.
  • Just as the group prepares to break out, a familiar figure suddenly appears before them, ending the chapter on a cliffhanger.

Character Developments

  • Aik is portrayed as more strategic and determined than during his previous expedition. He wants not only to survive but to conquer the ruins and recover his reputation.
  • Ghost remains at Aik’s side as one of the few survivors of the earlier expedition, suggesting continued trust and cooperation.
  • Oruona demonstrates her interest in Red Rose, viewing the Flower Fairy as a future forcibly contracted servant. Her playful attitude contrasts with the danger of her intentions.
  • Red Rose remains defiant and refuses to acknowledge Oruona despite being imprisoned in a golden cage.
  • The False Human reveals unusual ambition and independence. Rather than simply parasitizing an ordinary adventurer and escaping the Dungeon, it follows Aik’s group to accomplish a larger scheme and recover Red Rose.
  • The five Intermediate Professionals are shown struggling against an enemy whose strength lies in overwhelming numbers and endless regeneration.

Significant Themes

  • Redemption and determination: Aik’s expedition is driven by his desire to overcome the humiliation of his previous failure.
  • Strategy versus brute force: The expedition relies on controlled deployment, strength-based grouping, reconnaissance, and specialized professions to improve survival chances.
  • Exploitation and possession: Oruona’s desire to forcibly contract Red Rose reflects the chapter’s darker portrayal of humans treating monsters and fairies as property.
  • The Dungeon as a living system: The mycelial network, regenerating Goblins, and intelligent defenses make the ruins feel like a vast organism rather than a passive location.
  • Predation and deception: The False Human infiltrates the ruins unnoticed and hunts for a host, introducing a threat that operates through stealth and parasitism.

Character Interactions

  • Aik commands the knights and expedition members, organizing them into groups and directing their movement.
  • Oruona speaks with Aik before entering and teases the imprisoned Red Rose, whose silent defiance frustrates her.
  • The advanced assassins, thieves, and Machinist cooperate to protect the expedition from traps.
  • The False Human uses Red Rose as a tracking aid and the mycelial network as an information source.
  • The Intermediate squad’s captain and mage argue through action over whether to continue fighting or escape, highlighting the squad’s desperate situation just before the False Human approaches.

Ch. 104Blood Druid

Chapter Summary: “Blood Druid”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Vielan, a powerful Intermediate Professional Blood Druid, appears badly wounded beside a Mithril Chest while an Intermediate Professional squad is surrounded by Green-skin Goblins.
  • She transforms into a Blood Claw Werewolf and single-handedly massacres the Goblins using her claws, fangs, and Bloodsucking Vines, rescuing the squad.
  • After reverting to human form, Vielan reveals that all members of her original team have died. She orders the surviving squad to join her, and they accept because of her overwhelming strength and their need for protection.
  • Over the next two days, the combined group reaches the Seventh Layer with only three of Vielan’s new teammates remaining. The ruins have devastated the expedition: fewer than seventy percent of the knight squad survive, fewer than half of the Intermediate Professional squads make it through, and Aik’s Advanced Professional squad has not yet arrived.
  • Vielan reports the squad’s condition, then waits alone while secretly observing everyone. Her true objective is not survival but infiltration and intelligence gathering.
  • The chapter reveals that the real Vielan died earlier. The current “Vielan” is a False Human who copied her appearance, memories, personality, profession, and identity.
  • The False Human is working for Lucifer and the Sovereign, infiltrating Aik’s advance force to gather intelligence. It plans to maintain Vielan’s identity indefinitely unless a new host is needed.
  • When Aik finally emerges from the ruins carrying a golden birdcage containing Oruona, Vielan senses Red Rose’s presence through the mother plant hidden beneath her robe. She realizes that her target has arrived.

Character Developments

  • Vielan/False Human: Initially presented as a cold, ruthless Blood Druid, she is revealed to be an infiltrator impersonating the real Vielan. Her apparent indifference toward her dead teammates is genuine because she has no emotional connection to them. Despite her violent behavior, she is highly disciplined and capable of maintaining a perfect disguise.
  • Magic Warrior Captain: He recognizes Vielan’s status and strength, but after witnessing her slaughter the Goblins, he accepts her authority and allows her to take command of the surviving squad.
  • Aik: His delayed arrival emphasizes the extreme danger of the ruins. His appearance with the birdcage signals the next stage of Vielan’s mission.
  • The Intermediate Professionals: They are frightened and weakened by the ruins, making them willing to submit to Vielan’s leadership for protection.

Significant Themes

  • Strength and survival: The Blood Druid philosophy emphasizes the survival of the strong and the death of the weak. The ruins function according to the same brutal principle, eliminating most of the expedition.
  • Violence as power: Vielan’s combat abilities demonstrate how Blood Druids turn slaughter, blood, and predation into strength.
  • Identity and deception: The revelation that Vielan is a False Human raises questions about whether identity comes from appearance, memories, personality, or true consciousness.
  • Infiltration and hidden agendas: The apparent rescue operation conceals a covert intelligence mission. The expedition members believe Vielan is an ally, unaware that she serves an enemy faction.
  • Life through death: Blood Druid beliefs frame death and consumption as part of nature’s cycle, while the False Human’s parasitic replacement of Vielan provides a darker, literal version of survival through another’s destruction.

Character Interactions

  • The magic warrior captain confronts Vielan about her presence and later asks about her missing teammates.
  • Vielan coldly informs him that her teammates are dead, then takes control of his surviving squad.
  • The squad members obey because they recognize her superior strength and understand that following her increases their chance of survival.
  • Vielan later interacts formally with the expedition’s organizers by reporting her squad’s condition, while privately observing the gathered survivors.
  • Her final interaction is indirect: she senses Red Rose through Oruona’s birdcage when Aik arrives, revealing that the expedition has reached the point where her covert mission can proceed.

Ch. 106Vanguard Team's Chance of Getting Through

Chapter Summary: “Vanguard Team’s Chance of Getting Through”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Captain Aik’s vanguard force emerges from the dangerous ruins of the Dungeon’s Sixth Layer Core.
  • The group suffers heavy casualties: only 153 people remain, while 197 died inside the ruins. Survival rates were above 50% for knight squads, around 30% for Intermediate Professionals, and only the strongest Advanced Professionals made it through, with three critically wounded.
  • Aik explains that the group survived largely because the family’s priest squad included a follower of the Goddess of Luck, whose extraordinary fortune helped them avoid or endure deadly traps and curses.
  • The vanguard’s purpose is to gather intelligence and prepare the route for a much larger expeditionary army that will later attempt to reach the Dungeon’s Tenth Layer.
  • Rather than immediately entering the Seventh Layer, Aik orders everyone to rest for the night and recover, especially because the Advanced Professionals are exhausted and injured.
  • Aik begins inventorying fire-resistant potions and magical equipment in preparation for the Seventh Layer, which is expected to be a brutally hot, lava-filled environment.
  • Oruona notices Vielan sitting alone and approaches her. The two were raised in the same orphanage, with Oruona treating Vielan like a younger sister.
  • Red Rose, imprisoned in Oruona’s golden birdcage, senses the aura of the mother plant within Vielan. Instead of feeling hostility toward her, Red Rose experiences surprise, anticipation, and an unexplained sense of companionship.
  • Concerned for Vielan’s safety, Oruona asks her to remain by her side in the deeper Dungeon, since Vielan is only at the peak of the Intermediate Professional rank.

Character Developments

  • Aik demonstrates caution and leadership. Although he is responsible for pushing forward, he prioritizes the team’s recovery and recognizes that their mission is reconnaissance rather than immediate conquest.
  • The vanguard force is shown to be severely weakened, emphasizing the Dungeon’s extreme danger even before the formal expedition begins.
  • Oruona is revealed to be protective and caring toward Vielan. Her concern also highlights her awareness that the Dungeon’s deeper layers may be far more dangerous than expected.
  • Vielan continues to convincingly maintain her withdrawn, emotionless persona. Her behavior is identical to the original host’s, allowing her to avoid suspicion even around someone who knew her well.
  • Red Rose develops a mysterious connection to Vielan, suggesting that Vielan possesses a link to the Dungeon’s plant-related forces or to Red Rose’s origin.
  • Vielan’s vulnerability is emphasized through her lower rank and solitary habits, despite the hidden significance surrounding her identity.

Significant Themes

  • The cost of Dungeon conquest: The massive death toll shows that exploration and expansion are built on continual sacrifice.
  • Luck versus preparation: Even careful planning and specialized teams cannot eliminate danger; survival depends partly on extraordinary luck.
  • Reconnaissance versus conquest: Aik’s decision to delay entry reflects the importance of gathering information and preserving strength rather than pursuing reckless advancement.
  • Hidden identities and supernatural connections: Vielan’s perfect imitation of the original host contrasts with Red Rose’s instinctive recognition of something unusual within her.
  • Human bonds amid danger: Oruona’s sisterly concern provides a personal, emotional element within the otherwise military and statistical atmosphere.
  • Escalating danger: The transition from the trap-filled Sixth Layer to the volcanic Seventh Layer signals that the Dungeon’s challenges are becoming increasingly severe.

Character Interactions

  • Aik and the knight captain: They discuss casualties, survival rates, and the vanguard’s mission, presenting the expedition in practical military terms.
  • Aik and the vanguard: Aik orders the group to rest, showing his authority and responsibility for their survival.
  • Oruona and Vielan: Oruona approaches Vielan affectionately and urges her to stay close for protection. Vielan responds with her usual detached manner.
  • Red Rose and Vielan: Though they do not speak, Red Rose reacts strongly to Vielan’s presence, sensing her as a familiar and non-hostile being. This silent interaction hints at an important connection that may become central later.

Ch. 107A Gift from the Seventh Layer

Chapter Summary: A Gift from the Seventh Layer

Key Plot Points and Events

  • The advance party regroups and prepares to enter the Dungeon’s Seventh Layer. Everyone drinks fire-resistance potions, and the formation is arranged with shield guards and warriors in front, knights in the middle, and support forces behind.
  • The descent becomes increasingly hot, with the stone floor reaching extreme temperatures. Oruona, a fire mage, is comfortable in the heat because the dense fire-element energy strengthens her magic, though she recognizes that the environment is dangerous.
  • Upon entering the Seventh Layer, the party discovers a vast lava cavern filled with rivers of lava and glowing red mushrooms. Groups of Exploding Slimes immediately attack.
  • The Slimes can fire powerful Fireballs from a distance and then detonate themselves when they approach the party. Their suicidal attacks overwhelm the front line, killing more than a dozen shield guards and severely injuring others.
  • Aik takes command, ordering mages and archers to attack from a distance while healing squads rescue the wounded. He rearranges the formation so monsters cannot get close enough to explode.
  • As the party advances, they encounter four Gem Snails feeding on the mushrooms. The snails are unusually docile, and their discarded shells contain valuable pure Elemental Gems.
  • The group also realizes that the mushrooms growing throughout the layer are elemental medicinal herbs that can be used to create powerful fire-element potions.
  • Despite the layer’s deadly dangers, its resources are extraordinarily valuable, confirming that the Seventh Layer offers immense wealth to those willing to risk entering it.

Character Developments

  • Aik demonstrates strong leadership under pressure. After the devastating Slime attack, he quickly reorganizes the party and adapts its tactics, revealing both experience and growing concern about the abnormal danger of the Seventh Layer.
  • Oruona remains calm in the extreme heat because it enhances her fire magic. She also analyzes the mushrooms and recognizes their alchemical value.
  • Vielan contributes important knowledge by identifying the mushrooms as elemental medicinal herbs, highlighting her usefulness and expertise.
  • Ghost proves observant by discovering the Gem Snails before the rest of the party notices them.
  • The shield guards are shown to be courageous but vulnerable when confronted with unfamiliar monster abilities. Their losses emphasize the danger of underestimating mutated Dungeon creatures.
  • The mages and archers shift from supporting roles to the front line, demonstrating the party’s ability to adapt after suffering casualties.

Significant Themes

  • Danger and opportunity: The Seventh Layer combines lethal monsters with rare resources, embodying the Dungeon’s dual nature as both a deathtrap and a source of wealth.
  • The importance of preparation and adaptation: Fire-resistance potions help the party survive the environment, but the Slimes’ unexpected abilities show that preparation alone is insufficient without flexible tactics.
  • The threat of the unknown: Even familiar monsters such as Slimes can mutate and become deadly in the Dungeon’s unique conditions.
  • Wealth available to the brave: Valuable Elemental Gems and medicinal mushrooms are found in abundance, suggesting that even inexperienced adventurers could profit greatly if they survive.
  • Contrasts within nature: The aggressive Exploding Slimes stand beside peaceful, harmless Gem Snails, showing that not every Dungeon monster is hostile.

Character Interactions

  • Aik and the party: Aik gives direct orders throughout the expedition, and the members respond immediately, establishing him as the group’s operational leader.
  • Aik and Ghost’s squad: After Ghost discovers the Gem Snails, Aik directs the assassin squad to retrieve them safely.
  • Oruona and Vielan: Vielan gives Oruona a mushroom to examine, and Oruona confirms its magical and alchemical properties. Their exchange emphasizes mutual cooperation and expertise.
  • Aik and the Gem Snails: Aik tests the snails’ docility by feeding them mushrooms, confirming that they are non-aggressive.
  • The party and the wounded shield guards: The healing squads move forward after the Slime attack, underscoring the group’s reliance on coordinated support during the expedition.

Ch. 108Vanguard Caught in an Encirclement

Chapter Summary: “Vanguard Caught in an Encirclement”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • The vanguard spends roughly half a day navigating the Seventh Layer, a cavern filled with lava, toxic sulfur fumes, and unbearable heat. Their survival depends heavily on limited fire-resistance potions.
  • Aik hears mining sounds and suspects a Kobold tribe may be operating nearby. Hoping to obtain valuable Seventh-Layer ores and secure resources for reaching the Eighth Layer, he orders Ghost to redirect the group toward the sound.
  • As the vanguard advances, Vielan quietly gathers mushrooms while secretly surveying the surroundings.
  • Several members trigger a concealed trap and fall through the ground into a lava pool. Most die instantly, while the Advanced Shield Guard survives temporarily beneath the lava, fighting off Flame Domain Flame Demons that drag him deeper into the pool.
  • Oruona cuts through the stone to investigate, but arrives too late to save the fallen. Aik orders everyone to proceed cautiously, and the remaining Shield Guards begin testing every step for additional traps.
  • After the vanguard passes, Flame Domain Flame Demons reseal the trap, revealing that the ambush was deliberately concealed.
  • The group is then attacked by an enormous swarm of Exploding Flameflies. The Shield Guard uses Ironclad Bastion to protect the formation, while Oruona and the others destroy the fragile creatures with repeated fire magic and physical attacks.
  • However, the Flameflies continue arriving from every direction, using their overwhelming numbers and explosive bodies to exhaust the vanguard.
  • As the group fights the swarm, Flame Domain Flame Demons appear behind them and block the retreat, completing the encirclement.

Character Developments

  • Aik demonstrates leadership and resource awareness by monitoring the group’s supplies, recognizing the possible value of the mining sounds, and maintaining formation discipline after the trap attack. His confidence is shaken when he realizes the Seventh Layer contains organized and hidden threats.
  • Vielan continues pretending to be a quiet, harmless girl, but her deliberate scanning of the environment suggests that she is alert to dangers others have missed. Her mushroom gathering may also serve a concealed purpose.
  • Oruona proves highly capable and decisive. She immediately cuts through the trapped ground with magic and efficiently adapts her tactics by switching from stronger spells to Fireballs when she realizes the Exploding Flameflies are extremely fragile.
  • The Shield Guards bear the brunt of the danger, protecting the formation from both the traps and the exploding swarm. The fallen Advanced Shield Guard’s struggle beneath the lava emphasizes the cost of the vanguard’s advance.

Significant Themes

  • Resource depletion and survival: The group’s limited fire-resistance potions create constant pressure, making the hostile environment as dangerous as the monsters.
  • Hidden danger and false security: The seemingly solid ground conceals lethal traps, while Flame Demons reseal them afterward, showing that the enemy can manipulate the terrain and remain unseen.
  • Encirclement and attrition: The vanguard is not defeated by a single powerful enemy but worn down through chained explosions, endless reinforcements, and blocked escape routes.
  • Leadership under pressure: Aik must make quick decisions despite incomplete information, balancing the potential rewards of exploration against the growing risks.
  • Deception and concealed motives: Vielan’s outwardly innocent behavior contrasts with her careful observation, while the monsters’ coordinated ambush suggests unusual intelligence or organization.

Character Interactions

  • Aik consults Ghost and redirects the entire vanguard toward the suspected mining activity.
  • Oruona teases Vielan for collecting too many mushrooms, while Vielan remains in character as a taciturn, obedient girl.
  • The vanguard members cooperate during the trap incident, attempting to rescue those who fell, though their efforts fail.
  • Oruona takes over when the warriors cannot break through the hardened ground, demonstrating the complementary roles of magic and physical strength.
  • The Shield Guards protect the rest of the group with their defensive abilities, while Oruona and the other fighters coordinate attacks against the Exploding Flameflies.
  • The chapter ends with the entire vanguard forced to fight on two fronts: the exploding swarm ahead and the Flame Domain Flame Demons behind them.

Ch. 109Let Us Pray for the Heroes of the Knight Order

Chapter Summary: “Let Us Pray for the Heroes of the Knight Order”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • The Flame Domain Flame Demons launch a massive surprise attack on the vanguard, concentrating their fiery spears on the healing squad.
  • Their attacks carry the corrosive aura of the Abyss and the bloodline power of Flame Domain Flame Demons, quickly destroying the priests’ and mages’ protective shields and killing or injuring many healers.
  • Once the monsters’ connection to the Abyss is recognized, the priests of different churches temporarily unite despite their usual rivalries. They regard destroying Abyss-related beings as a shared divine duty.
  • Bishop Vienne leads the Church of Light priests in a counterattack. He unleashes Holy Judgment, a devastating strike that annihilates the Flame Domain Flame Demons in front of him and leaves a massive crack in the cavern floor.
  • Inspired by the bishop’s power and unwilling to let priests outshine them, a mid-ranking knight captain rallies the Knight Order. The knights summon their mounts and charge into the demon formation.
  • The knights initially tear through the Flame Domain Flame Demons with ease, but the monsters’ bodies and scattered fragments begin emitting a crimson glow.
  • The Flame Domain Flame Demons self-detonate with enormous explosive force. Because the knights are surrounded by their shattered remains, the entire Knight Order is caught in the blast.
  • Bishop Vienne orders the priests to retreat, but the explosions collapse the cavern behind them, sealing off their escape route with rubble and flowing lava.
  • The surviving priests realize that the knights are almost certainly dead. They offer a solemn prayer, asking the Holy Light to bless the fallen and guide them to the gods’ embrace.

Character Developments

  • Bishop Vienne demonstrates exceptional strength, courage, and leadership by personally confronting the Abyssal monsters and using Holy Judgment to destroy a large number of them.
  • The priests show remarkable unity and bravery, willingly charging enemies that vastly outnumber them. However, their relief at surviving also reveals their fear of dying in a dungeon, where they believe they cannot return to the gods.
  • The knight captain is motivated by pride and military honor. Embarrassed that the priests have taken the lead, he forces the Knight Order into an aggressive charge, unintentionally leading them into the monsters’ self-destruction trap.
  • The Flame Domain Flame Demons are revealed to be not only powerful attackers but also dangerous living explosives, making direct melee combat extremely hazardous.

Significant Themes

  • Unity against the Abyss: Religious factions put aside hostility when confronted with a common existential threat.
  • Faith and sacrifice: The priests willingly risk their lives in the name of their gods, while the final prayer frames the knights’ deaths as heroic sacrifices.
  • Pride versus caution: The knight captain’s desire to preserve the Knight Order’s honor leads to a reckless attack, contrasting with the need for strategic awareness.
  • Mortality and the afterlife: The priests do not fear death itself, but they fear dying in a dungeon beyond divine reach, emphasizing the importance of spiritual destination rather than death alone.
  • The dangers of underestimating enemies: The Flame Domain Flame Demons’ apparent vulnerability after being pierced hides their most destructive ability—their explosive self-detonation.

Character Interactions

  • The wounded and endangered healers depend on the priests and mages’ protective spells, though these defenses fail against the Abyss-enhanced attacks.
  • Bishop Vienne inspires the priests through his decisive attack and later saves two priests from being thrown into the lava by pulling them back with holy-light ropes.
  • Priests from different churches cooperate under the shared command to destroy the Abyssal monsters.
  • The knight captain reprimands his adjutant and rallies the knights, overtaking the priests to lead the charge.
  • After the explosion, the surviving priests acknowledge the knights’ sacrifice and unite in prayer for them, transforming rivalry and military competition into solemn respect.

  • The post emphasizes gratitude toward patrons and asks for their continued support, ending with an affectionate expression of appreciation.

Ch. 111Chamber of Commerce Plan

Chapter Summary: “Trade Association Plan”

  • The surviving vanguard escapes a collapsing section of the Seventh Layer after an underground lava eruption, but the disaster kills roughly two-thirds of their members, including the entire knight order that was buried in the collapse. Fewer than one hundred adventurers remain.
  • Despite the losses, Aik decides to continue exploring rather than withdraw. The vanguard’s most powerful members, particularly the Advanced Professionals, are largely unharmed, and Oruona accepts Aik’s decision without protest.
  • Ghost discovers a well-protected cavern with a single entrance, no monsters, no lava rivers, and much lower temperatures than the surrounding area. Aik designates it as a temporary camp, allowing the vanguard to conserve fire-resistance potions.
  • The group reinforces the cavern by sealing most of its entrance, leaving only a narrow passage. The adventurers believe they are making the camp safer, but Lucifer secretly expands hidden lava pools in the ceiling and walls, turning the cavern into a potential trap.
  • Lucifer plans to use the vanguard’s deaths to gather enough Primordial Power to raise the Dungeon to level ten and create new monsters. Meanwhile, adventurers continue flooding into the Dungeon after discovering an Elemental Gem Vein on the Sixth Layer.
  • Faux Human Number Three contacts Lucifer with a proposal to establish a Dungeon-controlled trade association. Having taken over a merchant host, it explains that the association could legally and commercially expand across cities, kingdoms, races, and even other Dungeons.
  • The trade association would serve two purposes: obtaining outside resources and materials for the Dungeon, and creating a covert intelligence network. Faux Humans could infiltrate the organization’s leadership, parasitize business partners and members of different races, and gradually embed themselves within major factions.
  • Lucifer approves of the plan implicitly by recognizing its strategic value. The association would allow the Dungeon to spread its influence beyond the Dungeon itself while gathering information and preparing hosts for future Faux Human expansion.

Character Developments and Interactions

  • Aik demonstrates decisiveness and composure by continuing the expedition despite catastrophic casualties.
  • Oruona shows trust in Aik’s leadership, accepting his decision without argument.
  • Ghost contributes vital reconnaissance by locating the ideal temporary camp.
  • Lucifer becomes increasingly calculating and ambitious, manipulating the vanguard’s apparent defensive preparations into a lethal trap while pursuing Dungeon evolution.
  • Faux Human Number Three proves highly strategic, using its merchant host’s memories to devise a plan combining commerce, resource acquisition, infiltration, and intelligence gathering.

Significant Themes

  • Sacrifice and survival: The priests’ gratitude toward the knights contrasts with the expedition’s brutal willingness to accept mass casualties.
  • False security: The cavern appears to be a safe refuge, but Lucifer secretly transforms it into a deadly pressure trap.
  • Expansion through deception: The trade association represents a new method for the Dungeon to extend its influence through legitimate commerce and covert parasitism.
  • Strategic adaptation: Both the adventurers and the Dungeon respond quickly to changing circumstances, but Lucifer’s hidden preparations give him the greater advantage.
  • Institutional infiltration: The chapter expands the conflict beyond direct combat, emphasizing espionage, economic networks, and the gradual subversion of entire races and factions.

Ch. 112Faux Humans Begin to Act and the Adorably Ditzy Flower Fairies

Chapter Summary

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Faux Human Number Three presents Lucifer with an ambitious plan to establish merchant guilds throughout the outside world.
  • Lucifer realizes the guilds could become both a worldwide intelligence network and a supply chain, transporting resources, wealth, and local specialties into the Dungeon.
  • Faux Human Number One, Vielan, plans to infiltrate noble expeditionary forces and act as a link between the nobles and the merchant guild.
  • Once the guilds are established, they may organize their own expeditions into the Dungeon, sending adventurers, soldiers, and slaves inside to provide nourishment for Lucifer’s growth.
  • Lucifer fully approves the plan and promises the support of the Dungeon’s races, resources, and even disguised high-level monsters.
  • Number Three announces the approval through the Mycelial Network. Number One assigns Number Three leadership of the Faux Humans, while Number Two manages material exchanges and records information about the Dungeon’s races.
  • Faux Humans disguised as adventurers begin entering the Dungeon with Alchemy Expansion Bags to collect resources for the merchant guild.

Ch. 114Vielan and Red Rose's Plot

Chapter Summary

Key Plot Points and Events

  • After a full day in the Seventh Layer, Aik’s group transforms the lava cave into a fortified temporary camp. Its entrance is narrowed, and magical barriers and traps are installed to detect approaching monsters.
  • The nearly hundred surviving vanguard members use the camp to rest, sort Dungeon materials, and process mushrooms, monster parts, and treasure. The safer environment also allows support professionals to produce potions and equipment.
  • Aik decides that future exploration will be conducted primarily by Advanced Professionals, with Intermediate Professionals providing support. Lower-level professionals, especially priests, alchemists, and potion makers, will remain in camp because the Seventh Layer’s heat and explosive monsters make fieldwork too dangerous.
  • The three Advanced Professional teams are organized under Aik, Oruona, and Wick Os. Oruona stays behind to defend the camp while Aik and Wick Os lead expeditions.
  • Oruona temporarily leaves the golden birdcage containing Red Rose with Vielan, since Vielan has shown interest in the Flower Fairy.
  • In secret, Vielan reveals her true sympathy toward Red Rose and gives her the mother plant. She promises to create an opportunity for Red Rose to escape, instructing her to flee deeper into the Dungeon and avoid recapture.
  • Red Rose agrees and declares that she would rather die than be enslaved or forced into a contract with a human.
  • Several hours later, Aik and Wick Os return from successful expeditions. They have cleared Goblin and Blazing Kobold camps and brought back large quantities of unique ores and other resources.
  • Wick Os realizes that the mutated Blazing Kobolds are naturally suited to mining in the deadly environment, suggesting that they could become valuable laborers if his family eventually conquers the Dungeon.

Character Developments

  • Aik demonstrates practical leadership by restructuring the expedition around the dangers of the Seventh Layer and protecting weaker members from unnecessary risks.
  • Oruona remains responsible and cooperative, accepting the role of camp defender. Her interest in Red Rose is also evident, though she does not yet suspect Vielan’s intentions.
  • Wick Os begins thinking strategically about the Dungeon’s long-term economic value, particularly its mineral resources and mining potential.
  • Vielan balances her secret identity and larger Faux Humans’ plans with her desire to save Red Rose. She is cautious, knowing that another rescue attempt could expose her.
  • Red Rose shows courage, loyalty, and defiance. Although imprisoned, she remains mentally strong and prepares herself to resist enslavement at any cost.

Significant Themes

  • Survival through organization: The vanguard adapts to the Seventh Layer by fortifying its camp, assigning roles, and limiting exploration to capable professionals.
  • The cost of exploration: The deaths of many combatants and the danger of self-detonating monsters emphasize how brutal the Dungeon is.
  • Freedom versus control: Red Rose’s fear of capture and slavery contrasts with the humans’ desire to exploit Flower Fairies and Dungeon resources.
  • Hidden identities and divided loyalties: Vielan must conceal her true nature and affiliations while secretly aiding Red Rose.
  • Exploitation and economic ambition: Wick Os’s plans to use Blazing Kobolds for mining reveal how powerful groups view the Dungeon as a source of resources and labor.

Character Interactions

  • Aik consults with the Advanced Professionals and gains their agreement on keeping weaker members in camp.
  • Aik assigns Oruona to defend the camp while he and Wick Os lead exploration teams.
  • Oruona entrusts Red Rose to Vielan, unintentionally creating the opportunity for Vielan’s secret rescue plan.
  • Vielan privately warns and encourages Red Rose, while Red Rose accepts the plan and promises to escape.
  • Oruona briefly checks on Red Rose but does not confront Vielan.
  • Aik and Wick Os later reunite with the camp and discuss the value of their discoveries, with Wick Os especially focused on the Blazing Kobolds’ mining abilities.

Ch. 115Upgrade to Lv10

Chapter Summary: “Upgrade to Lv10”

1. Key Plot Points and Events

  • The two Advanced Professional teams finish their exploration and begin resting, leaving Oruona’s Intermediate Professionals to guard and train at the temporary camp.
  • Vielan secretly prepares to sabotage the expedition. She releases Red Rose from her cage and patrols the camp while concealing her true identity and intentions.
  • Vielan deliberately causes an Intermediate Professional to move a disguised stone, triggering a hidden Dungeon mechanism.
  • The supposed safe camp becomes a deadly trap. Scarlet lava erupts from the walls and ceiling, killing expedition members almost instantly and overwhelming even Intermediate Professionals’ defenses.
  • Panic spreads as survivors rush toward the narrow exit. Some expedition members attack one another in their desperation to escape.
  • Aik wakes in time to defend himself with frost battle aura. With Ghost’s help, he realizes the camp was likely a natural Dungeon trap that the expedition mistakenly turned into a base.
  • Aik leads the escape and destroys the damaged exit with his Perpetual Frost Strike, allowing survivors to flee.
  • Oruona searches through the burning camp for Vielan rather than escaping immediately. Vielan is trying to retrieve Red Rose, whom Oruona had entrusted to her.
  • Oruona rescues Vielan and carries her toward safety. Meanwhile, Red Rose emerges safely and disguises herself by merging with one of the Flame Domain Flame Demons.
  • Deep within the Ninth Layer, Lucifer watches the expedition’s deaths generate a massive amount of Primordial Power. He converts 1,000 Primordial Power into experience, raising the Dungeon from Level 9 to Level 10.

2. Character Developments

  • Vielan: Reveals her hostility toward the Dungeon intruders and demonstrates her intelligence, composure, and willingness to sabotage them. Despite her hidden agenda, she remains determined to protect or recover Red Rose.
  • Red Rose: Shows resourcefulness and unusual survivability by escaping the burning camp and disguising herself as part of a Flame Domain Flame Demon.
  • Aik: Acts decisively under pressure, protecting himself, assessing the crisis, and forcing open the exit so others can escape. His leadership and combat ability are emphasized.
  • Ghost: Maintains enough composure to identify that the cavern was likely a Dungeon trap and urges Aik to focus on saving the survivors.
  • Oruona: Displays strong concern for Vielan and loyalty to her Flower Fairy. She risks entering the collapsing camp and personally rescues Vielan.
  • Lucifer: Continues benefiting from the expedition’s suffering, treating Aik as a source of good fortune while using the deaths to advance the Dungeon’s growth.

3. Significant Themes

  • False security and hidden danger: The expedition believes its camp is an impregnable fortress, but it is actually built inside a concealed Dungeon trap.
  • Survival instinct and moral collapse: The narrow exit causes members to attack one another, showing how fear and desperation destroy cooperation.
  • Deception and divided loyalties: Vielan appears to be an ordinary sentry while secretly working against the expedition, reflecting the danger of hidden identities.
  • Sacrifice and loyalty: Oruona risks herself for Vielan, while Vielan refuses to abandon Red Rose.
  • The Dungeon’s growth through death: The expedition’s destruction is not merely a tragedy; it directly fuels Lucifer’s power and allows the Dungeon to reach Level 10.

4. Character Interactions

  • Vielan intimidates an Intermediate Professional through a brief patrol encounter, indirectly manipulating him into triggering the trap.
  • Aik and Ghost discuss the catastrophe and coordinate the survivors’ escape.
  • Aik joins the Advanced Professionals attacking the exit and ultimately breaks it open himself.
  • Oruona angrily confronts Vielan for refusing to flee, but Vielan explains that she is searching for Red Rose. Oruona then protects and carries her out.
  • Red Rose covertly interacts with a Flame Domain Flame Demon by merging with it as a disguise.
  • Lucifer observes the disaster from afar and credits Aik as his “second lucky star” before using the accumulated power to upgrade the Dungeon.

Ch. 116New Talents and the Floating Island Cluster

Chapter Summary: “New Talents and the Floating Island Cluster”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • After the Dungeon reaches Level 10, its expansion triggers a creation-like phenomenon in the Void. New layers form as materials and energy are absorbed into them, and the stairways connecting the Dungeon’s layers extend into the newly created Tenth Layer.
  • Lucifer immediately relocates himself and the Dungeon’s accumulated treasures to the deepest part of the Tenth Layer, allowing his spiritual power to survey the entire environment.
  • The Tenth Layer contains two major regions:
    • A stormy black sea filled with enormous waves, lightning, hurricanes, and scattered islands.
    • A vast volcanic wilderness whose eruptions heat and evaporate seawater, generating the atmospheric currents that sustain the perpetual storms.
  • Lucifer decides that the Flame Domain Flame Demon and the preserved fire dragon remains will become the Tenth Layer’s two bosses, since the volcanic environment is ideal for them.
  • He plans to transform the sea’s islands into floating islands, creating a special and imposing environment for the layer bosses.
  • Lucifer considers two methods:
    • Using levitation magic arrays powered by Magic Crystals, which would require too much energy.
    • Creating Floating Stone Veins, a naturally anti-gravitational material used in the construction of floating cities.
  • After awakening the new talent Matter Creation, Lucifer combines it with Concept Imbuement and Energy Imbuement. He creates Floating Stone Veins beneath ten islands, giving them the ability to levitate and absorb magic power and elemental energy.
  • The islands detach from the seabed and rise into the sky. The largest rises 3,000 meters above the ocean, while the other nine float beneath it, forming a massive sky fortress or floating island cluster.
  • The Floating Stone Veins continuously absorb surrounding energy and convert excess power into additional ore, allowing the islands to expand naturally.

Character Development

  • Lucifer continues to grow in strength alongside the Dungeon and demonstrates increasing mastery over its structure and resources.
  • He becomes more strategic and resource-conscious, rejecting the energy-intensive levitation array because it would deplete his Magic Crystal Ore vein.
  • His new Matter Creation talent greatly expands his creative and world-building capabilities, allowing him to manufacture specialized materials and reshape entire regions of the Dungeon.
  • Lucifer also shows entrepreneurial foresight: he realizes Floating Stone Veins could become a valuable product for the future Treasure Chest Commerce and a lure for adventurers.

Significant Themes

  • Creation and transformation: The Dungeon evolves from a collection of uniform layers into a more complex world with varied environments and the potential to develop into distinct planes.
  • Resource management: Lucifer balances grand ambitions with the need to preserve renewable energy sources and avoid wasteful methods.
  • Innovation and adaptation: Rather than relying solely on existing magical knowledge, Lucifer uses his own talents to recreate and improve upon technologies known from the outside world.
  • Power and world-building: Lucifer’s growing abilities allow him to reshape nature on a massive scale, turning ordinary islands into a spectacular strategic stronghold.
  • Commerce and exploitation: The chapter links Dungeon development with future economic plans, showing that even natural resources and dangerous environments can be turned into profitable attractions.

Character Interactions

  • There are no direct conversations with other characters in the chapter.
  • Lucifer interacts primarily with the Dungeon itself, its environments, stored treasures, magical knowledge, and newly awakened talent abilities.
  • His planned use of the Flame Domain Flame Demon and fire dragon remains establishes their future roles as guardians or bosses of the Tenth Layer, though they do not yet act or speak.

Ch. 117Stormflame Dragon

Plot points and events

  • Lucifer transforms the first half of the Tenth Layer into a vast, intensified thunderstorm over the ocean. Ten floating islands become the only safe route through it, forcing adventurers to reach the highest island and defeat its boss.
  • The second half is already a dangerous expanse of active volcanoes, so Lucifer leaves it mostly unchanged. He hides and seals the next-floor entrance in the largest volcanic cluster.
  • To open that entrance, adventurers must defeat both floor bosses, obtain their maps, and collect five single-use keys scattered across the layer. After the entrance is opened, it will be concealed again when the bosses respawn, and the keys will relocate—making each expedition different.
  • Lucifer gathers the Fire Dragon’s remains, ten stormflame diamonds, an eternal ember, and ten flameburst rocks, then uses his Monster Creation ability to resurrect and empower the dragon.
  • The resulting Stormflame Dragon, named Wilmis, pledges himself to Lucifer. Lucifer assigns him the stormy first half of the layer as his territory, and Wilmis flies to the largest floating island.

Character developments and interactions

  • Lucifer demonstrates both his strategic ingenuity and his desire to make the dungeon challenging without making it impassable. He deliberately provides a route forward, while designing repeatable trials for future adventurers.
  • Wilmis returns from death as a powerful ruler of fire, lightning, and storms. He submits to Lucifer, offering his loyalty and wealth, and eagerly accepts his new domain.

Significant themes

  • Challenge balanced with access: Lucifer creates severe hazards but leaves a clear, if difficult, path through them.
  • Renewal and creation: The dead Fire Dragon is restored and transformed into a stronger being through Lucifer’s power.
  • Repeatable adventure: Relocating keys and re-hiding the entrance ensures that future attempts remain unpredictable.
  • Power and dominion: Wilmis’s presence reshapes his surroundings, and those within his domain may be transformed into retainers of the Evil Dragon Kingdom.

Ch. 118Flame Demon Lord

Key plot points and events

  • After the Stormflame Dragon leaves, Lucifer examines the badly damaged remains of an Abyssal Flame Demon. Though its body is reduced to bones, its valuable Balor Flame Demon bloodline remains.
  • He gathers rare materials from the Tenth Layer—Flamecore Steel, Volcanic Obsidian Crystal, Ash Essence, and Flameburst Rock—and uses Monster Creation to forge the remains and an Eternal Ember into a new floor boss: the Flame Demon Lord.
  • The Flame Demon Lord kneels before Lucifer, then begins summoning lesser demons across the volcanic region. Bound to obey him, the demons nevertheless fight among themselves. Their deaths generate Primordial Power for the Dungeon, an unexpected benefit Lucifer encourages him to maximize.
  • With the layer’s two floor bosses complete, Lucifer turns to building a self-sustaining monster ecosystem, which would reduce the Primordial Power needed to replace creatures killed by intruders.
  • He also creates the Storm Slime from Mica Steel, Slime gel, and Storm Silver. Adapted to thunderclouds, it feeds on clouds and lightning, stores electrical energy, and reproduces by splitting.

Character developments

  • Lucifer continues to act as both creator and Dungeon manager. He prizes efficient, sustainable growth and recognizes that summoned demons can serve as a source of Primordial Power.
  • The Flame Demon Lord emerges as a powerful, battle-focused servant with an eternal flame, extensive weapon mastery, and the ability to summon and bind Abyssal demons. He obeys Lucifer without hesitation.
  • The Storm Slime is introduced as a creature whose unusual traits—flight, lightning storage, and asexual reproduction—make it well suited to a self-sustaining ecosystem.

Character interactions

  • Lucifer assesses the demon’s remains, creates the Flame Demon Lord, and gives him a direct order to begin summoning. The new lord responds respectfully and carries it out.
  • Lucifer observes the summoned demons’ infighting and orders the Flame Demon Lord to continue at full strength, provided Lucifer himself is not harmed.

Significant themes

  • Creation from destruction: Lucifer turns a ruined body and hazardous natural materials into a formidable new being.
  • Power through conflict: The demons’ violence strengthens the Dungeon, making slaughter serve Lucifer’s purposes.
  • Sustainability and resource management: Lucifer aims to build ecosystems that reproduce naturally rather than consume Primordial Power through constant replacement.
  • Adaptation to environment: Both the Flame Demon Lord and Storm Slime are shaped by the Tenth Layer’s volcanic and storm-filled conditions.

Ch. 119The Tenth Layer's Monster Ecosystem

Summary

Lucifer continues building the tenth layer’s ecosystem. He creates Storm Slimes and distributes them among the clouds, then uses Red Dragon scales and metals to make Crag Serpent Dragons—fire-breathing, burrowing ambush predators suited to the volcanic floating islands. The Stormflame Dragon’s Domain Modification is expected to turn those islands into a landscape of lava and storms, providing ideal habitats.
The Fungus Lord arrives and spreads spores and mycelia across the layer. Its Mycelial Network will decompose materials, absorb mana and elements, and produce mushrooms that feed other monsters. Lucifer leaves the storm-lashed ocean to the Fungus Lord’s followers, trusting their rapid reproduction and adaptive evolution to produce creatures capable of surviving there.
Lucifer also turns accumulated resentment from adventurers who died in the Dungeon into Wraithfires—flame-bodied monsters that feed on negative emotions. He plans to sustain them on the hatred and anguish produced by the endlessly summoned Abyssal Demons. The demons already serve as threats to adventurers, and their bodies, souls, and emotions can all be put to use.
By now, the layer is populated with creatures from across the Dungeon and new creations: spore-born monsters in the ocean, fire-aligned beasts on the floating islands, Storm Slimes in the clouds, and Abyssal Demons in the rear section. Though pleased with the thriving ecosystem, Lucifer senses that it still lacks a resource-producing creature like the Gem Snails. He considers filling that role with true plant monsters, a type he has not yet created.

Character developments and interactions

Lucifer’s role is that of a deliberate ecosystem designer: he plans habitats, food sources, and even ways to reuse the by-products of death. He recognizes the Fungus Lord’s independent arrival and gives it responsibility for the ocean rather than competing with its work. His comments about “milking” the Abyss reveal his pragmatic, sardonic attitude toward turning every available resource to the Dungeon’s advantage. The Fungus Lord’s expansion and the demons’ constant conflict are the key forces shaping the new layer.

Significant themes

  • Ecological interdependence: Monsters, habitats, and food sources are designed to support one another.
  • Resourcefulness and reuse: Even corpses, souls, and negative emotions become useful.
  • Adaptation and evolution: The Fungus Lord’s followers may evolve to survive otherwise lethal conditions.
  • Life amid hostility: The tenth layer is made to teem with life, but its ecosystem is also built around storms, predation, and danger.

Ch. 120A new resource monster: the Life Fruit Tree

Lucifer created the Life Fruit Tree, a resource monster that produced fruits with varied benefits and could purify waste while improving its surroundings. He spread seeds across the tenth layer and planned to give modified trees to the Nature Flower Fairy Tribe, while monsters began planting and experimenting with them.

  • Lucifer used Matter Creation and Dungeon plants to create a level-eight Life Fruit Tree with valuable fruits, materials, and a life aura.
  • Lucifer decided to give spatially modified Life Fruit Tree seeds to the Nature Flower Fairy Tribe so the trees could form a protected dimensional space on the fifth layer.
  • Lucifer spent primordial power to grow and reproduce the first tree, harvesting over ten thousand seeds more efficiently than creating trees directly.
  • Lucifer distributed most of the seeds across the tenth layer, including volcanoes, floating islands, the seabed, and the skies.
  • Spore Goblins and other monsters planted seeds, while some sent seeds through the Mycelial Network for the Fungus Lord to experiment with.
