The cold wind howled, whipping up beads of blood and dust that struck Xia Lun's boots.
Xia Lun slowly withdrew his gaze from the Information Panel, feeling a swell of emotion.
Ever since he had strengthened his Short Sword, Night Plume, through a sacrificial wish in the previous Scenario, this was the first time he had triggered its stacking effect. Given the difficulty of this instance, though, there should be plenty of enemies he could use to build those stacks.
In all honesty, he had always been particularly fond of weapons with unlimited growth potential. Once he built up Night Plume's stacks, they would completely make up for his relatively weak offensive capabilities.
"I did pretty well just now, didn't I?" Renee's voice suddenly came from beside him, breaking his train of thought.
He paused, then turned to look at her.
Although she had just narrowly escaped death, Renee did not look frightened at all. She was beaming, her face practically saying, Hurry up and praise me.
Xia Lun lowered his head, looked into her eyes, and said earnestly, "Very well. Fighting means using your head. Both the timing of your Light Shield and the way you used your positioning to lure the enemy into the trap were excellent."
A smile immediately tugged at Renee's lips, but a moment later, she pressed them together and forcibly suppressed it.
"Sir Xia Lun." Renee's blue eyes were filled with resolve, and her tone was solemn. "I don't want to be a burden anymore. I can fight alongside you, and I can keep watch for you, too. Please allow me to join the fighting."
Xia Lun narrowed his eyes slightly.
