End-of-Volume Thoughts

Dear readers, hello! I'm Lying Flat and Muddling Through, and as you can see, this is my wrap-up for Volume One.

First, I have to thank you all for your subscriptions, tips, monthly votes, and support. Second, I know my update speed has been disastrous for the experience of following the story, so I owe everyone who has kept reading an apology (QwQ).

I need to stress the title again: this is a wrap-up for the book's "first volume."

I know that might surprise a lot of people. Some of you may only now be discovering that this book even has volumes. Hard as it may be to believe, it does. The reason I didn't divide the first million characters into volumes wasn't some outside concern about readers saving up chapters. It was because the divisions aren't based on different dungeons, but on how much of the book's Worldview has been revealed. I planned that before I started writing.

As you can see, the first volume is titled "Recovery," so by its end, negative buffs like Lung Disease, the Soul Curse, and the Soul-Eating Echo were bound to be gone. Relying on negative traits for motivation forever would be a bit too absurd. This is the second book I've written, and, more to the point, the first I've been able to update consistently, so it inevitably has quite a few problems. Before I go over those problems and how I plan to improve, though, I'd like to shamelessly share some thoughts about writing that I should have shared when the book first went on sale.

In terms of what I planned and what I actually completed, this volume's other three dungeons broadly matched my original vision. The Sorrow Hill City dungeon was the one that strayed considerably. That said, the
