The moment his fingers closed, warmth surged into Xia Lun's palm, becoming a rush of vitality and strength.
Xia Lun was about to check his Information Panel when the Numien Mirror broke apart again like a stack of blocks. It became a dozen or so razor-sharp Penrose Triangles that circled him as furiously as hornets from a disturbed nest.
As the Penrose Triangles whirled, the purple eyes on the curved halo opened and closed faster. The mirror seemed angry. Thinking it was still after his prize, Xia Lun prepared to summon Black Flame and strike back. But in the next instant, his vision blurred.
Without warning, the curved halo vanished, and the thousand purple eyes that shone like stars disappeared with it. The frenzied Penrose Triangles and the Numien Mirror itself were gone.
Xia Lun suspected the Numien Mirror might be feigning weakness, so he waited another full half minute. The strange mirror made no further move.
After failing to seize his Knowledge, it seemed to have left for good.
"Xia Lun!" White Line's anxious voice came from beside him. "The Reflection of the Numien Mirror we brought out of the dream is gone!"
Xia Lun manifested the Voidwood Chest and looked inside. Sure enough, the Numien Mirror had vanished. All that remained where it had lain was a disorderly pile of bandages.
"Whew." Xia Lun let out a long breath.
"What a loss." White Line puffed out her cheeks unhappily. "That was a Legend-level item! We could've copied the two mirrors we brought out as many times as we wanted."
"It's a good thing the mirror's gone. The original had a mind of its own. Keeping its Reflection would've caused serious trouble." Xia Lun shook his head. "White Line, you were a huge help just now."
