Gunshots echoed through the empty hall, sending wisps of sand trickling from the ceiling.
Xia Lun reacted on instinct. He twisted his wrist, drew his Short Sword, and snapped his gaze toward the gunfire.
The shots had come from the east side of the hall, directly opposite him and White Line. There was no mural on the badly weathered stone wall, but there was an iron door carved with a relief of scales.
Xia Lun and White Line exchanged a look, then rushed toward the door.
Gunshots meant living people, and living people meant information. With information, they could find the Golden City and complete the Scenario mission.
The wind outside grew shriller. The whole building seemed to sway. Xia Lun raced up to the door, activated Limit Break, twisted at the waist, and drove a kick into it.
Bang!
The impact rang dull. Yet Xia Lun felt as though he had kicked cotton. The violent force vanished before it could burst from the sole of his boot. The iron door did not budge; only its rusty hinges rattled.
Transcendent Power couldn't kick open a door?
What kind of joke was that?
Xia Lun was about to examine the door more closely when a violent explosion erupted behind it.
Boom!!
It was deafening!
Before the blast had faded, frantic footsteps sounded on the other side, accompanied by the rustling squelch of something soft-bodied crawling. The sound was so loud it drowned out even the worsening sandstorm outside.
"There's a Ritual on this door!" White Line said. "It can't be opened from this side. Let's just blow it up!"
Xia Lun looked at the door again. Only then did he notice a tangled silver pattern etched into the relief of the scales.
The next moment, a stream of cobalt blue information
