When Hiruzen Sarutobi appeared at the classroom door, the faint chatter in the room instantly fell silent.
This Hokage Assistant, a powerhouse known as the "Professor of Ninjutsu," possessed unquestionable authority and prestige among the younger generation.
His gaze swept across the classroom before finally settling on the row by the window.
"Jiraiya, Orochimaru, Senju Tsunade."
Hiruzen's voice was loud and steady, carrying clearly through the classroom. "Come with me."
The three who had been called reacted differently.
Jiraiya's eyes widened at first, then an enormous smile of surprise and wild delight spread uncontrollably across his face. He nearly jumped straight out of his seat.
A glint of understanding flashed through Orochimaru's golden vertical pupils. He did not seem surprised by this outcome and merely rose calmly to his feet.
Tsunade gave a small yawn, rubbed her still-sleepy eyes, muttered, "It's Uncle Hiruzen...," and slowly stood as well.
Though they had already guessed, being personally called away by the Hokage Assistant still made them feel the weight of being highly regarded, warming their hearts.
This was undoubtedly tremendous recognition, and it also meant they would receive the finest guidance available.
Under the mixed gazes of envy, curiosity, and understanding from their classmates, the three followed Hiruzen Sarutobi out of the classroom.
They passed through the brand-new corridors and arrived at a dedicated guidance room marked "Team 7."
The room was simply furnished. Aside from tables and chairs, there was a tactical board and several scroll racks for basic training.
Hiruzen gestured for the three to sit, while he stood before them. The stern expression he usually wore in the Hokage Office softened considerably, taking on the gentleness of a teacher.
"Starting today, I will be your lead instructor during your time at Konoha University. Our squad is designated Team 7."
