Tsunade's chakra had only just recovered and was far from its peak.
Though Orochimaru remained calm, facing the combined assault of four Genin and one Chunin had begun to wear him down.

Tsunade sent one Genin flying with a punch, only to be struck in the shoulder from the side by another and stagger backward.
"Tsunade!"
Orochimaru hurled three Shuriken to force back the enemies before him, then rushed to Tsunade's side.
The two stood back to back, gasping for breath.
"Can you still fight?" Orochimaru asked.
Tsunade gritted her teeth. "What a stupid question."
The Chunin strolled over slowly. Looking at the two bedraggled youths, his smile deepened.
"About enough, isn't it?" He rolled his wrist. "Time to end this—"
Before he could finish—
"Boom!"
Seeing them gathered together, Orochimaru immediately formed hand seals.
A massive blast of fire erupted, instantly swallowing the Chunin and several Genin!
"What—?!"
Tsunade immediately released the Yin Seal, power flooding into her body as she looked at Orochimaru.
Orochimaru understood at once. He unleashed Hidden Shadow Snake Hands and, before they could react, bound them together.
Seeing this, Tsunade coated her hand in chakra and swung at them.
They had only just come to their senses when Tsunade's fist wind arrived, embedding them in the cracks of the stone.
Another injured Chunin took advantage of Tsunade's inattention to ambush her, driving a Kunai into her back.
"Got her!"
But in an instant, his excited expression turned to shock.
The wound he had stabbed was healing at an astonishing speed.
"How is that possible?!" the Chunin cried in disbelief.
Taking advantage of his shock, Tsunade struck again with Monstrous Strength, knocking him into the pile of people.
