After a quarter hour of careful thought, Tianyu had spoken with such certainty. She had even said she was confident she could conceive a child.
She had the air of someone pretending to understand. A little slow, a little dazed, and not terribly bright.
Jiang Yun had no idea how to explain it, so he could not help asking, "Aren't you angry? Why me?"
At his question, Tianyu turned her expressionless face toward him and answered sincerely.
"You're a good person, and Yue'er would never harm me!"
The Yue'er Tianyu spoke of must have been that artifact spirit.
Meeting Tianyu's clear, bright gaze, Jiang Yun suddenly felt ashamed deep down.
It was as though he had lured away an innocent girl.
Jiang Yun realized what made Tianyu different: she did not understand how people related to one another.
She knew what had happened, but she had little real understanding of it, no concept of what it meant.
She simply thought Jiang Yun was a good person. And whatever message the artifact spirit had given her, she seemed to see this as borrowing his seed.
Jiang Yun had imagined all sorts of consequences and come up with seven or eight ways to argue his case and persuade Tianyu. This was the one situation he had never expected.
He could not say a word.
"As long as you're sure!"
In the end, Jiang Yun gave Tianyu a bright smile. Once he had more or less made sense of it, he dispelled the barrier separating the stone platform from the outside.
He looked again at Tianyu's face, which showed so little expression, and said,
"I'll take responsibility for this to the end. Stay here and clear the divine flame from your Sea of Consciousness first. Come to me whenever you have a problem!"
