Background

Jiang Yun was originally a lone office worker living in a rented apartment in a major city. After falling ill, he awakened with another person’s memories and found himself in the world of Shrouding the Heavens, occupying the identity of Ye Fan’s older cousin and business partner. 1

Already aware of the Nine Dragons Pulling the Coffin incident, he deliberately rushed to Mount Tai to ensure that he would accompany Ye Fan aboard the bronze coffin. Before departing Earth, he sent their aunt a message claiming that the cousins were leaving to seek immortality, hoping to spare the family despair over their disappearance. 1

The Five-Colored Altar’s activation restored his blurred vision and revealed the Dao Companion Panel, giving him an Origin Space, the incomplete Dao Scripture, and a path to acquire physiques, bloodlines, Marks, and inheritances through Dao companions. 1 2

Appearance

Jiang Yun is repeatedly noted for his unusually striking appearance. Jiang Shuanglan’s first impression was of a handsome young man with a free-spirited, unruly bearing. 13

Jiang Yun is practical, ambitious, and intensely survival-oriented. He treats foreknowledge, treasures, cultivation methods, alliances, and bloodlines as resources to be secured before they can be lost. His preference is to prepare overwhelming advantages rather than gamble his life in desperate battles. 2 17 32

He is also a capable manipulator of appearances. At Jade Cauldron Paradise, he implied an uncertain connection to the Jiang Family to gain Elder Jiang’s support, then used a fabricated story of loneliness and wanting a family to obtain help finding a Dao companion. 12

Despite his calculation, Jiang Yun consistently supports those he considers family. He gave Ye Fan medicine, scriptures, Divine Spring Fluid, and supplies for his journey; sheltered Xia Weier and Little Dingdang; adopted Xiao Nannan into his household; and risked Purple Mountain to rescue Jiang Taixu. 12 17 23 24 50

His rapid advancement occasionally makes him prideful and restless, but he recognizes this flaw and deliberately seeks sparring experience, broader exposure, and a more stable mindset. 21

Jiang Yun deliberately reaches Mount Tai during the Nine Dragons Pulling the Coffin incident, reunites with Ye Fan, and is transported through the Five-Colored Altar to Yinghuo. On Mars, he establishes himself as a knowledgeable leader among the terrified classmates and seeks treasures at the Great Thunderclap Temple. 1 2

Jade Cauldron Paradise

After entering Jade Cauldron Paradise with Ye Fan, Jiang Yun rapidly opens his Bitter Sea through Divine Spring Fluid and becomes an Immortal Seedling in the eyes of the sect. He gains Elder Jiang’s support, marries Jiang Shuanglan, develops his panel, and begins building a household around himself. 11 12 15

Household Expansion and Alchemy

Jiang Yun protects Xia Weier after she is injured in a resource-grabbing scheme, brings her and Little Dingdang into his valley, and later adopts Xiao Nannan. He obtains the Dao Venerable’s alchemy inheritance, begins refining Hundred-Grass Liquid, and uses his resources to construct a stable cultivation household. 22 23 24 27

Dao Companions and Bloodline Inheritances

Jiang Yun accepts Xia Weier as his second Dao companion after Jiang Shuanglan proposes the match. He discovers Weier’s Taihuang Bloodline, reflects the Taihuang Scripture, and obtains the Secrets of Xing and Zu to strengthen both his household and survival prospects. 28 29 30

Retribution Against Chen Yu and Chen Feng

After confirming that Chen Yu and Chen Feng targeted Xia Weier, Jiang Yun intercepts them outside Jade Cauldron Paradise. He kills Chen Yu and her followers, interrogates Chen Feng, then later kills him as well after learning the full extent of the plot. 31 32

Departure to the Northern Region

With the Jiang Family Ancestral Lineage preparing to investigate survivors of the Desolate Forbidden Land, Jiang Yun leaves Yan Kingdom rather than risk becoming a disposable scout. Jiang Shuanglan remains behind to manage their home and protect Xiao Nannan, while Xia Weier accompanies him after reaching the Dao Palace Realm. 35 36

Northern Region Conflict and Sect Building

Jiang Yun defeats Zhao Fa despite the latter’s Four Extremes Realm cultivation, relying on formations, the Secret of Xing, the Secret of Zhe, the Yin-Yang Great Mill, and forbidden artifacts. He later destroys the Lihuo Sect and other hostile factions, claims the Lihuo Divine Furnace, reorganizes surviving cultivators, and establishes the Source Heaven Sect. 41 44 45 46

Purple Mountain Expedition

Seeking the Source Heavenly Book and a way to aid Jiang Taixu, Jiang Yun enters Purple Mountain using Source-seeking artifacts, Emperor Jade, and the Source Pearl. He crosses the Yin-Yang Divine Diagram, resists ancient demonic summons, reveals his Hengyu Bloodline to draw out Jiang Taixu, and successfully breaks the God King free from his four-thousand-year imprisonment. 48 49 50
