Xin Chun looked at him, fell silent for two seconds, then suddenly smiled. "What should I say? That I've hated you from the very beginning? That I never wanted to get close to you? I loathe every person and everything connected to Duan Wei."
"She abandoned her own biological son, left for more than ten years, got married abroad, and treated you like a good son. Did she often fuss over you and shower you with care?"
"I wanted to stay away from you, but you kept coming closer, step by step."
"Later, I thought this was such a good opportunity, wasn't it? I wanted revenge. I deliberately approached you, joined the company, even started dating you."
"You actually liked me. How ridiculous."
Stop talking. This wasn't what you truly meant. Owen's feelings weren't ridiculous at all, but precisely because of that, Xin Chun's character and intentions seemed all the more vile and contemptible.
He did not deserve feelings like that. He did not deserve someone like Owen.
Xin Chun felt exhausted. Suddenly, he did not want to say anything more. After pausing, he spoke again. "Let's break up, Owen. Since you've already found out, fire me."
"Before I leave the company, I'll return the shares to you."
"We'll be even. We won't have anything to do with each other ever again. By then, I'll..."
The person before him was still so heart-stirring, but why did the words he spoke now make Owen's heart ache so dully, like a blade slicing through flesh and flaying his emotions alive?
Owen did not want to hear any more. He pulled Xin Chun into his arms, holding him tightly as he lowered his head and sealed his lips.
"Mm."
Xin Chun's eyes widened. He struggled, wanting Owen to let him go. The moment his lips parted slightly, however, Owen's tongue immediately pried them open and slipped inside, tangling with his in a forceful kiss.
Xin Chun had no time to swallow before it was seized away. His hands pushed against Owen, but Owen did not move in the slightest.
With no other choice, Xin Chun bit down. The taste of blood instantly spread through his mouth, yet Owen only let out a muffled groan. After a brief pause, he answered with even fiercer stimulation.
Xin Chun struggled even harder. Finally, when Owen paused to breathe, he shoved him away and, without a second thought, turned and ran out of the study.
His sixth sense was on high alert. If he did not run now, something might be waiting for him.
Owen's presence was far too dangerous at that moment, like a wild beast that had lost its mind. His dark green eyes carried an icy chill that stirred faint unease in Xin Chun.
Closer. The door was right in front of him.
Xin Chun's hand had already reached the doorknob when, in the next instant, the door that had opened a crack was slammed shut by a palm.
Owen stood behind him, one arm wrapped tightly around Xin Chun while the other locked the door.
"Owen, don't..."
"Don't what?" Owen asked softly.
He lowered his head, gripped Xin Chun's chin, turned his face toward him, and kissed him deeply.
The difference in their strength made it impossible for Xin Chun to break free again. The first time had been luck. How could Owen possibly let it happen a second time?
So this time, no matter how Xin Chun pushed or pounded at him, Owen did not let go. When his kisses reached Xin Chun's neck, Xin Chun tilted his head back, one hand gripping Owen's hair tightly, his breathing unsteady.
"You..."
The moment he uttered a single word, a hand covered his mouth. Owen lifted his head, his eyes dark and deep. "Shh. Don't say anything else I don't want to hear. From now on, enjoy yourself with me."
He scooped Xin Chun up and carried him toward the bedroom.
Soon after, the bedroom door shut tightly, and the sounds inside were intense enough to make one blush and race with embarrassment.
In S City, Li Ze frowned at the phone in his hand and turned to Ivy. "Ivy, I can't get through to the boss either. It's the same with Brother Xin."
Just now, Ivy had called Owen's phone, but no one had answered for a long time.
The result was the same when she called Xin Chun.
Then Ivy found Li Ze and asked him to try calling as well.
Li Ze said, "Sis, the boss and Brother Xin couldn't have..."
Nothing happened to them, right? Please don't let anything have happened.
Just as Ivy was about to speak, her phone suddenly rang. She looked at it and saw that it was Owen calling.
She hurriedly answered. "Boss... Mm, all right, I understand."
After only a few words, Ivy ended the call.
Li Ze hurriedly asked, "Ivy, what happened?"
Ivy said, "They didn't hear their phones. They're busy, and they might stay in Jingu Town for a few days."
"Oh." Li Ze nodded.
So they were busy.
At Xin Chun's home in Jingu Town, clothes were scattered all over the bedroom floor. The curtains were drawn tightly, leaving the room dim.
The two phones had been casually tossed onto the carpet. Owen had picked one up earlier, then set it on the sofa opposite. Stepping over the clothes littering the floor, he walked to the bed.
Empty wrappers were scattered beneath the bed, all of them used up. One corner of the quilt had slipped onto the floor, and parts of it were dirty. The bedsheets were even worse.
Owen's tie was tied to the headboard. One end had once been around Xin Chun's wrist, but Xin Chun had fallen asleep, so it had been untied.
One pillow had fallen to the floor, while another was propped beneath Xin Chun's waist. Even though he was asleep, Owen had not removed it yet.
Xin Chun was exhausted. The corners of his eyes were red, and his entire body was flushed pink.
Owen reached out and stroked the corner of his eye, then moved downward... all the way between his legs. Even so, Xin Chun did not wake.
Then Owen took a towel from the bathroom and cleaned him up, pulled away the pillow, rolled the bedsheet over to its clean side, and found a quilt to cover Xin Chun.
When Xin Chun woke up, his body felt clean and fresh, without any sticky discomfort. But the clothes beside the bed were gone. He sat up clutching the quilt, and the room was still dim.
Owen sat on the sofa handling documents. When he saw Xin Chun wake, he looked up. "Are you hungry?"
Xin Chun said, "Where are my clothes?"
He wanted to leave.
But Owen ignored the question, set down the documents, and stood. "I'll bring you some food."
Before Xin Chun could speak, Owen walked out of the bedroom. Not long after, he brought in a meal. It was obvious that it had been prepared long ago and kept warm.
"Eat first," Owen said.
Xin Chun saw that he seemed to have calmed down, and he truly was hungry. After all, he had not eaten anything since buying the food and returning home. After a moment of silence, he picked up his chopsticks and began to eat.
