In the empty streets of Cairo before dawn, Dio stood alone in the middle of the road, clutching his pierced chest as he faced the two wizards not far away in terror.
The ground around Dio was littered with his underlings. Those little punks had all been killed by a chained Killing Curse—cleanly and efficiently, without any unnecessary pain. It had happened so fast that Dio had not even had time to react.
"How could this be..."
Dio muttered in disbelief. His own condition was not much better. The mysterious wizard opposite him was far too strong; Dio had not had the slightest chance to fight back. All four of his limbs had already been shattered. If his vitality and regenerative ability had not been far greater than an ordinary vampire's, he would have long since been kicked into a heap by the roadside.
"Hmph—you're pretty tough, aren't you?"
The young voice from nearby was filled with disdain and mockery. Dio looked up to see two figures in black robes slowly parting the thin mist on the dark street ahead, walking toward him. Their shadows stretched beneath the gaslights by the roadside. To Dio, the two of them looked as terrifying as death-bringing demons.
What was he supposed to do? He could not beat them, and he could not escape. It seemed the only path before Dio was death, but he did not want to die—
"I never expected to find a vampire who could use magic. I have to take you back and study you properly."
