"I agree!"
"I agree too!"
"Damn, you scared me."
The sudden voices behind him gave Roy a fright. When he turned around, he saw two identical red-haired boys standing behind him with their arms around each other's shoulders, mischievous smiles spread across their freckled faces.
The twins spoke in turns as if they were putting on a show, introducing themselves to Roy.
"I'm Fred, and he's George. We heard that Dumbledore personally brought a young wizard to Diagon Alley to buy supplies yesterday."
George circled around to Roy's side, slung an arm over his shoulder, and continued Fred's words.
"Some people said that young wizard was Dumbledore's relative."
Fred came to Roy's other side as well, wrapping an arm around his other shoulder and whispering in his ear.
"Others said that young wizard was a child Dumbledore adopted."
The twins pinned Roy between them, one on each side, and spoke in unison.
"So, could the person involved tell us what your relationship with Dumbledore is?"
A wicked grin curled across Roy's lips as he lowered his voice and whispered back.
"Since you asked so sincerely, I'll be merciful and tell you. I'll only tell the two of you, so don't go spreading it around, or I'll have Dumbledore make trouble for you at school."
"Don't worry, our mouths are the tightest. Little Ron still doesn't know where we hid his toys."
The twins lowered their heads and leaned their ears closer, only to hear Roy speak in an extremely slow, mysterious tone.
"That is—nothing at all."
"Hmph, liar."
Realizing they had been played, the Weasley twins looked displeased and began complaining.
Fred said, "Looks like our little Dumbledore just doesn't want to tell the truth. We should secretly put some Veritaserum in your food."
Roy helplessly spread his hands and introduced himself. "Roy Smith, from Wool's Orphanage. Everything I said is true."
George suddenly crouched down and carefully examined Roy from head to toe.
"Maybe Dumbledore's gone senile."
"Or maybe he just wanted something to do, to get his old bones moving," Fred added.
Watching the two brothers clown around, Roy asked curiously.
"Say, why are you two wandering around here by yourselves? Where are your parents?"
"You came to Diagon Alley alone too, and you've got the nerve to talk about us?" Fred shot back.
"Exactly. You came to Diagon Alley by yourself. We just got separated from our family," George chimed in.
"Hope you two have brooms for dinner when you get home tonight." Roy mocked them with a grin, waved, and prepared to leave. The two immediately followed him, one on either side, demanding to join his treasure hunt.
"We heard you were going treasure hunting. How could you leave us behind?"
Unable to shake them off, Roy eventually formed a Diagon Alley treasure-hunting team with them.
The three were halfway down the road when Fred and George suddenly stopped. Fred looked troubled as he said to Roy.
"That's Knockturn Alley. Mum never lets us go in there."
"And there are loads of Dark wizards inside. That's not something young wizards like us can handle."
George also looked hesitant. They had heard countless stories about Knockturn Alley's terrible reputation since childhood.
Seeing the two back down, a mocking expression appeared on Roy's face. He taunted them in an obnoxious tone.
"What, can't do it? Scaredy-cats. Fine, I don't need you two scaredy-cats following me. I'll go in and take a look myself."
"We're not scaredy-cats. We're natural-born Gryffindors!" George retorted, his face flushing red.
"Exactly, we're just, just—"
"Just scared." Roy mercilessly mocked them. "Bye-bye, you two scaredy-cats. I'm going treasure hunting on my own."
Fred and George stood there helplessly, watching Roy disappear around the corner into Knockturn Alley. They looked at each other for a long time before Fred finally said to George:
"He'll die in there."
"Or get kidnapped and sold," George added.
As Roy strolled through the twisted, shadowy alley, the air was thick with dampness and a faint smell of blood. Having spent years walking the edge of a blade, he instinctively heightened his guard. One hand quietly gripped the wand hidden in his sleeve, while the other secretly held the dagger he carried with him.
In this kind of environment, a knife gave him more of a sense of security than a wand.
Roy did his best to conceal himself. This place was unlike clean Diagon Alley; all kinds of things were scattered in the alley corners, whether garbage someone had thrown away or belongings left behind by some unlucky person after death. Digging through trash here could actually yield quite a lot.
As Roy searched for reusable scraps, he browsed the various goods displayed by the stallholders in the alley.
He noticed a pile of old books messily laid out before a masked wizard's stall. There was not a single word on their worn covers, and Roy became curious.
"What are these books about?" Roy asked the stall owner.
Seeing that this brat, whose hair had barely grown in, carried an aura that made him seem difficult to provoke, the previously indifferent stall owner became a little more serious.
"Where'd this kid come from? I don't know. These books belonged to a very troublesome Dark wizard. I wasn't interested in reading them. Considering how troublesome that Dark wizard was, and how many people died to kill him, if you want them, give me at least 20 Galleons."
"In your dreams. They'd be worth four Galleons at most. Who knows whether these things have any Dark magic curses on them? I only have two Galleons. Take it or leave it."
The masked wizard narrowed his eyes at Roy.
"At least seven Galleons."
"I only have four Galleons and ten Sickles on me. If you won't sell, then take this pile of junk to your grave. I'd like to see what idiot would spend that much money on this trash."
The stall owner snorted coldly and finally agreed.
"Great. Here are five Galleons. Keep the change. Consider it my treat for a meal at the Leaky Cauldron."
Without paying the stall owner any further attention, Roy tossed him five Galleons and left carrying the large stack of books.
Roy had originally wanted to visit Borgin and Burkes, the largest shop at the very end of the alley, but he realized someone was following him. To avoid being ambushed, he decided to leave first.
"I bought so many books and picked up so much stuff. I don't want to lose my haul."
Carrying his things toward the exit, Roy walked while considering his options.
"Only one person, no accomplices. You're really asking to die. Do you think you're the Warden? Even Demulant had to bring a chariot before he dared fight me."
Roy's figure suddenly vanished around the corner ahead. Seeing his target disappear, the Dark wizard following Roy hurried after him. Only after rounding the corner did he realize he had walked into an empty dead end.
"Strange, where did that brat go?"
Just as he was confused, the alley suddenly filled with thick smoke. The Dark wizard instantly lost his bearings and fell into a panic.
"You think I'm easy to bully? Do you know how many people I killed in Azshara?"
The Doctor's voice rang out from within the smoke. Roy, normally so carefree, now spoke with intense killing intent.
"Who's there?!" The Dark wizard panicked even more and began firing spells wildly in every direction.
"I'm here." The Doctor's voice suddenly sounded behind him. Startled, he hurriedly turned around, only to feel a sharp pain in his hand. When he came to his senses, a dagger had cut a deep gash across it, and his wand had been taken.
As the smoke dispersed, the Dark wizard finally saw the short green figure standing at the deepest point of the alley, casually playing with his wand and looking at him mockingly.
"You're both wicked and brainless. Where's your doctor? Did he give up treating you?"
The Dark wizard watched that evil pair of green pants snap his wand in half. Realizing he had provoked someone dangerous, he immediately ran away without looking back.
"Forget it. Let him go."
Roy ultimately decided not to silence the Dark wizard.
He was about to live right under old Dumbledore's nose. Remembering what Dumbledore had told him before, Roy did not want to do anything that would make people think he was a Dark wizard.
Seeing that Roy was not pursuing him, the fleeing Dark wizard had just begun to feel relieved when retribution quickly arrived.
Just as the Dark wizard reached the mouth of the alley, two red shapes suddenly sprang out from nowhere. Before he could see clearly, something exploded in his face. The massive blast left the Dark wizard completely disoriented.
"Why do I keep getting blown up?!"
"You damned Dark wizard, let go of Roy!" With an angry roar, a huge iron bar slammed heavily into the Dark wizard's face. This time, the wizard was completely knocked unconscious.
"Bloody hell, our ultimate fireworks are that powerful?!" Still shaken, George exclaimed to Fred at the sound of the explosion.
"Why did you two red-haired baboons come in here?"
Roy was also dumbfounded by their stunt. He had no idea where they had found fireworks that were like artillery shells. The blast had been enormous, and flames were still shooting into the sky.
"We came to save you, obviously. We couldn't just watch a young wizard fall victim to a Dark wizard. So, we're not scaredy-cats, right?!"
Fred's adrenaline was pumping, and his tone was incredibly excited.
Looking at Fred and George's smug expressions, Roy found it amusing, yet also felt a little warmth. He had not expected these two idiots to actually rush in to help him. The taunt he had intended to make was ultimately swallowed back down.
With a helpless smile, he reluctantly acknowledged their courage.
"Fine, heroes. Thanks for saving me, but we need to run now. Next time, remember to put silencers on your bombs."
Only then did Fred and George realize the situation. They grabbed Roy and ran outside, but before leaving, Roy upheld GTI's tradition of thriftiness and cleaned out this "mob's" loot box. This time, Roy had made another six Galleons and seven Sickles.
The three ran out of Knockturn Alley. The events from moments ago were still vivid in their minds, and the excited twins were still bragging to Roy about their exploits. Then the jubilant pair suddenly noticed that Roy had stopped. When they looked up, the smiles vanished from both their faces.
Mrs. Weasley—Molly Weasley—stood before the three like an enraged lion. Having finally found Fred and George after they had disappeared for the entire afternoon, she let out an earth-shaking roar.
"Fred and George, starting today, you two are grounded indefinitely!!!!!"
