No matter what the gossiping crowd thought, the young pair had officially begun their date.
"Happy?" Susan was surprised to see the driver when she got into the car.
"Hi, Miss Susan." Happy politely turned around to greet her before looking at Lin Feng.
"Mr. Lin!" Happy greeted Lin Feng excitedly. Embarrassing as it was to admit, he was not only a member of the Superman Forum, but one of its veteran members.
Happy had once fantasized that if he possessed Superman's abilities, Mr. Stark would never suffer any harm!
Oh! Tony Stark's loyal driver and bodyguard.
"Wait... why is he here?" Susan turned to look at Lin Feng beside her in confusion.
"Isn't Happy Tony Stark's driver?"
As a reporter, Susan knew at least something about the social circles of celebrities.
"Did you forget what I told you? Tony Stark is my friend." Lin Feng answered with a smile.
"You're actually that close? I thought you were just casual acquaintances..." Susan was genuinely surprised.
She had assumed they were merely ordinary friends, but Tony had actually lent his personal driver to Lin Feng.
"That's not important, is it?" Lin Feng said with a smile and a shake of his head, then told Happy, "Drive, Happy!"
"I know you're tired after working all day, so let's eat first and go shopping afterward, okay?" Lin Feng grinned and winked at Susan. "Guess what we're having tonight!"
At the childish guessing game, Happy curled his lip and started the car. He was only the driver now, so he was not going to say anything extra.
"It's not that new steakhouse, is it?"
Susan knew about the steakhouse that annoying John had mentioned. It was a famous internet sensation, and the owner had won over a huge crowd of fans with his flashy way of sprinkling salt.
Susan had even received one of its flyers and seen it in short videos.
But honestly, Susan did not like steak.
Still, if Lin Feng was inviting her, she was willing to give it a try.
"Nope. I know you don't like steak, Susan!" Lin Feng said confidently with a smile.
What a joke. Embarrassing as it was, Lin Feng had bought a handbook on Susan's preferences from the system, spending a full 300 reputation points.
That damned system was practically extorting him.
"How did you know I don't like steak?" Susan was both pleasantly surprised and puzzled.
She looked at Lin Feng's black hair and tentatively asked, "Then let me guess—is it Eastern cuisine?"
"Mm..." Lin Feng pondered briefly. "Not entirely correct."
"Then what is it? Seafood?"
"Not entirely correct either!"
"Lin!" After failing to guess several times in a row, Susan became anxious.
A hint of coquettishness slipped into her voice without her realizing it, sending Lin Feng's heart racing.
It was a little too much for a rookie like Lin Feng to handle!
"Okay, okay. It's seafood, and it's Eastern cuisine!" Lin Feng revealed the answer with a smile. "Today, I'm taking you to experience seafood prepared in Eastern styles!"
Susan's eyes lit up when she heard the answer. She thought of an extremely famous and extremely expensive seafood restaurant.
"It can't be the incredibly famous Eastern Penglai Cloud, can it?!"
Under Susan's expectant gaze, Lin Feng nodded affirmatively.
"Oh! My God!" Susan exclaimed. "I know that place—it's insanely expensive!"
"It's the number one Eastern restaurant on the list of restaurants people in New York most want to visit!" Expectation filled Susan's big eyes.
God knew how much Susan, who loved seafood, had wanted to try it at least once.
But that Eastern restaurant was simply too expensive! And it hardly accepted reservations from ordinary people. It generally only served aristocrats, government officials, and bosses of top corporations.
"You really made a reservation at Penglai Cloud, Lin? I remember they don't accept reservations from ordinary people!" Susan asked.
As if she had suddenly thought of something, she gave Lin Feng a suspicious once-over. "Oh God, don't tell me you turned into Superman and..."
Susan suddenly covered her mouth, her eyes unconsciously flicking toward the driver's seat. She had suddenly remembered there was a driver in the car and had nearly let it slip.
Susan drew an S shape in the air with her hand—the shape of the emblem on Superman's chest.
If Lin Feng had made the reservation under Superman's identity, that restaurant definitely would not have refused him.
Lin Feng shook his head with a bitter smile. "What are you thinking? How could I use that identity to make a reservation?"
The car happened to be stopped at a traffic light.
Happy could not help turning his head slightly as he explained, "Miss Susan, Mr. Lin is a shareholder of Stark Industries!"
"And Mr. Lin is also a very close friend of Mr. Tony!"
"I don't think there's a restaurant in New York foolish enough to turn down Mr. Lin."
"What?!" Susan's mouth fell open, and she turned to Lin Feng with eyes full of astonishment.
"You're actually a shareholder of Stark Industries?!"
She knew Lin Feng was very rich. After all, he lived in a six-hundred-square-meter villa, which was why she had not been surprised when a Rolls-Royce came to pick her up.
But she truly had not expected Lin Feng to be this rich.
Stark Industries practically had "money is no object" written across its face.
Lin Feng nodded. He did indeed own some shares in Stark Industries; Teacher Tony had given them to him.
Susan fell silent. She felt that this big boy was like a treasure trove—there was always another gem waiting to be discovered inside.
She began looking forward to the meal even more.
Happy's driving was steady, and he quickly brought them to the seafood restaurant.
Amid the restaurant's enthusiastic reception, Susan tasted Eastern seafood cuisine for the first time.
The Eastern chefs, armed with superb culinary skills, had practically turned preparing seafood into an art of endless variations.
By the end of the meal, Susan only felt that it had been completely worth it.
The dazzling array of dishes and flavors she had never experienced before gave her an entirely new understanding of food.
By the time they had eaten and drunk their fill, New York had entered a brightly lit night.
The two of them had spent nearly a hundred thousand dollars.
Susan gave the dining experience a nine out of ten. She could not rate it any higher, or she was afraid Lin Feng would get too proud.
As they sat in the car on the way back, Lin Feng shamelessly scooted a little closer to Susan.
Susan noticed his small movement and rolled her eyes at him, but she did not refuse.
She selected several carefully taken food photos and posted them to her personal page.
Only Susan's close friends and family followed her page, and she wanted to share this experience with them.
But less than two minutes after posting, her phone began ringing nonstop.
She picked it up and saw that it was her best friend, Kay.
Kay's messages came flooding in one after another like artillery shells.
"Susan! You went to that restaurant?"
"Oh my God! I heard a luxury car picked you up from work today, but I didn't believe it!"
"Don't tell me some mysterious big boss has taken a liking to you?"
"And! Why didn't you invite me for something this good?!"
Each of Kay's questions was more explosive than the last! Susan was speechless. What was all this supposed to mean?
"What are you talking about, Kay?" Susan's slender fingers flew across the screen.
"He's just a friend! A friend took me there! I'll take you along next time if I get the chance!"
"Is he the big boss who picked you up in a Rolls-Royce?" Kay clearly had no intention of letting Susan off and continued pressing her.
"If you keep talking like that, I'm not talking to you anymore!" Susan's face reddened slightly. This gossip-obsessed best friend really dared to say anything.
"A really good friend took me there, so stop making wild guesses." Susan found a photo she had taken of Lin Feng during the meal and sent it to Kay.
In the picture, Lin Feng was carefully peeling a crab leg for Susan. Wearing thin-rimmed glasses that suited his deep-set features, he looked like a young CEO from a novel.
Kay instantly went quiet.
After a long while, a message finally came again. "Oh! God, where did you find such a handsome young man?"
"Is he your boyfriend, Susan?!"
Seeing the message, Susan shyly stole a glance at Lin Feng beside her.
She undoubtedly had a great deal of affection for this handsome, sunny, and somewhat low-key young man.
Lin Feng was like the protagonist of a fairy tale—powerful and confident.
But their relationship had not been made clear yet, and Lin Feng had never confessed to her, so he probably did not count as her boyfriend.
"Not yet..." Susan replied!
"Then step aside and let me have him!"
"?????" Susan sent a string of question marks.
"I've been single for over twenty years, and I think this boy is exactly my type!" Kay's reply was incredibly bold.
"If you don't want him, how about giving him to me?!"
"Get lost!" Susan replied with a dark expression, then put away her phone and ignored her flighty best friend.
