The two sat idly in the coffee shop, waiting for the assistant to come pick up tonight's news materials.
Only Susan and Lin Feng were in the coffee shop.
After such a massive disaster, there were hardly any people wandering the nearby streets.
Everyone was afraid for their own safety, holed up at home with their doors locked.
Only the sirens of ambulances and police cars could be heard.
Emergency news reports were playing on the television as well.
Susan held her phone and chatted with her best friend about what had happened tonight.
Lin Feng, meanwhile, stared out the window in a daze.
Ding~
A message notification sounded, and Lin Feng pulled his phone from his pocket.
It was a message from Tony Stark. He had sent Lin Feng a picture.
When he opened it, he saw a picture of Lin Feng delivering the final blow to Abomination in outer space. It had probably been captured by a Stark Industries satellite.
Huh? That was fast. Lin Feng was completely baffled.
He had only returned from space around ten minutes ago, hadn't he?
Looking at the crystal-clear photo, Lin Feng sighed softly.
In this age of networks and cameras everywhere, information traveled faster than he could fly.
He had no doubt that this picture and tonight's incident would soon be sitting on the desks of every major power.
Sure enough, only ten minutes after it happened, Tony already knew.
Lin Feng even suspected that Tony had been monitoring him.
His phone rang again. This time, Tony was calling him directly, opening with his usual snark.
"Lin, did your date take you all the way into outer space?"
Only heaven knew how spectacular Tony's expression had been when JARVIS sent him the photo.
"Was this a special show you arranged for your little girlfriend? Superman's cosmic battle?" Tony continued teasing him. "I have to say, Lin, you've made me think you're a monster once again!"
Lin Feng's strength had shocked him yet again. He had still underestimated just how powerful Lin Feng was.
"You found out about that too?" Lin Feng said with a smile.
"Couldn't be helped. A Stark Industries satellite just happened to be right beside you."
"Come to think of it, should I thank you for not smashing my satellite?" Tony snorted twice.
"Oh, man, my aim is pretty accurate!" Lin Feng joked. "Besides, I own shares in Stark Industries too. Why would I blow up one of our own satellites?"
"But you did get one thing right." Lin Feng's expression suddenly turned strange.
"Tonight really was unforgettable!" Lin Feng teased. "I thought that big guy was the surprise you prepared for me, Tony!"
Tony, sitting at home, rolled his eyes. "Come on, man, you're actually questioning my taste?!"
"I told you before, Lin!"
"The surprise I prepared for you is in your villa!" Tony said. "Once you take your little girlfriend home, you'll thank me."
Tony's words piqued Lin Feng's curiosity. He wondered what surprise Iron Man had prepared for the two of them.
"By the way, Lin." After exchanging a round of insults, Tony's tone suddenly became serious.
"I called to tell you to watch out for those military guys."
"Stark Industries' satellite wasn't the only one that captured that footage. You understand what I mean, right?"
Those military bastards were no saints. If Stark Industries could capture it, so could they.
The abilities Lin Feng had displayed completely exceeded all understanding. He was like an alien.
The U.S. Government could not possibly allow an uncontrollable force like that to appear, and they would very likely take action.
That was why Tony had called Lin Feng as soon as he found out.
He wanted to warn Lin Feng to take it seriously and be wary of moves made in the shadows.
"Yeah, I understand." Lin Feng nodded and gave Tony a reassuring answer. "I'll be careful."
"As long as you know! If you need help, contact me right away..." Tony ended the call after saying that.
The U.S. Government? After hanging up, a dangerous glint flashed through Lin Feng's eyes.
They really weren't good people, but conventional firearms were useless against him. Only heavy weapons might pose even a slight threat.
"Dog System, get out here!" Lin Feng called.
"What? You're disturbing my rest so late at night?" The system's impatient voice rang out.
"You sleep too?" Lin Feng found that strange. Systems could sleep?
"...What is it? Spit it out!" The system clearly did not want to deal with him.
"Could I withstand a nuclear bomb now?" Lin Feng asked. He did not know whether the Man of Steel in the original work could withstand nuclear bombs; it seemed never to have been explained.
If he could withstand one, the threat from the U.S. Government would be greatly reduced.
"Huh? If that's what you want to talk about, then I'm not sleepy anymore!" The system's voice rose an octave.
"You, who possess a Superman physique!" The system dragged out its words before giving Lin Feng the answer he had been waiting for.
"You can't withstand one!"
"I can't withstand one, and you're this excited?" Lin Feng's face darkened as he cursed, "System, are you a dog?"
"Ahem, ahem, Host, don't rush!"
"It's very simple if you want to withstand a nuclear bomb."
"Just spend Reputation Points to upgrade to Silver Superman!" the system said.
"Silver Superman possesses incredible growth potential. Even at the initial stage after upgrading to Silver Superman—"
"You'd be able to walk through a nuclear explosion as if it were nothing!" The system diligently pitched its offer like an insurance salesman.
"So? Want to exchange for it?"
Silver Superman truly was powerful. A single sneeze could knock the sun out of the Solar System, and he could even break through the barrier of time and return to the past.
However, those were basically abilities from the late stages of his growth.
In Marvel, he would absolutely be at least Multiversal Level.
Before crossing over, Lin Feng had understood the abilities of Superman at every stage.
There was no way he wasn't tempted.
"How many Reputation Points does the exchange cost?" Lin Feng asked.
"Exchanging for the initial Superman physique requires 100 million Reputation Points."
"That expensive?" Lin Feng was speechless. Was this some kind of black-market shop?
"It's not expensive," the system explained.
"Exchanging for a single initial Silver Superman ability costs 10 million Reputation Points."
"For example, initial Super Hearing costs 10 million Reputation Points, and it doesn't have growth potential."
"How many abilities does Superman have? I won't list them all for you!"
"Do you still think it's expensive?" After explaining seriously, the system mocked, "The abilities aren't expensive! You're just poor!"
"Dog Host!"
"Damn it." Lin Feng swallowed a mouthful of frustration.
Take a deep breath. He couldn't stoop to the Dog System's level. The angrier he got, the happier it became.
"How many Reputation Points do I have now?"
"Host currently has 8.7 million Reputation Points."
The system displayed a record of Reputation Point sources.
"The points mainly come from the positive impact created by the Host helping citizens during this period."
"The attention contributed by your fan base has also been converted into Reputation Points."
"Close to ten million?" Lin Feng considered it. Not bad. If things continued like this, he should be able to save up nearly 100 million Reputation Points by the time the Avengers 2 storyline arrived.
"What about the Reputation Points from fighting Abomination tonight? Why aren't they here?" Lin Feng looked through the Reputation Point records and discovered that today's total had not increased.
"Don't tell me you, Dog System, skimmed them off?"
"Host, you only just finished fighting. The buzz on forums and in the news hasn't spread yet." The system could not help rolling its eyes as it explained.
"Fine..." Lin Feng smacked his lips and said no more.
