Farewell to Susan, Preparing to Cross Over

Lin Feng understood. This was basically a heavily altered Justice League storyline.

He had to fight the corrupted Superman and push the plot back onto its proper track.

That way, the energy produced by the Worldline's convergence would be reduced, and the energy the Exile could obtain would also decrease.

"I have a few questions." After pondering for a moment, Lin Feng picked out several things he did not understand.

"First, setting aside the issue of justice, why are we stopping the Exile from drawing energy from the Worldline?"

"This doesn't seem to affect the world we're in, does it?" Lin Feng's first question was somewhat cruel, but it was true that this was not happening in his own world. Yet the system was taking risks to deal with it, so there had to be some hidden reason.

Although he now possessed Superman's strength, Lin Feng knew the saying: a corrupted version was three times stronger. For no reason at all, he had no desire to go head-to-head with Superman.

Hearing Lin Feng's doubts, the system explained, "If you help the Worldline reduce the energy it uses during convergence, the Worldline will give a portion of that energy to you."

"In Jane's simple terms, you help it reduce its consumption, and it helps you increase your strength."

"Oh! That makes sense." Lin Feng nodded. A gift from the will of the world should not be too stingy.

"Then I have another question. Doesn't the DC world have any powerful beings?! They could completely deal with the corrupted Superman and the Exile, then put the Worldline back on track."

"Why was this mission sent to us?" This was what Lin Feng cared about most.

If the mission had been sent to him, then the logic before and after it did not quite add up.

It was like the Marvel world he was currently in. If there really were Exiles wantonly destroying the world's main storyline...

There were plenty of powerful beings who could wipe them out with one hand.

Yet the system's answer exceeded Lin Feng's expectations.

"They can't intervene, Host!"

"If they intervene, it will cause even greater changes to the Worldline."

"There are also some highly confidential matters involved. Since your current strength is still insufficient, I cannot tell you." The system gave a mysterious explanation.

"Even Superman's strength isn't enough?" Lin Feng was speechless. Even Superman was considered insufficient in the system's eyes?

"You think it's enough?!" the system retorted. "You can't even beat The Ancient One on Earth. Do you think you're impressive enough once you're in the universe?"

"You must at least reach the mid-stage strength of Silver Superman before you can learn more."

"For now, just follow this system's instructions and improve yourself as quickly as possible."

"Didn't that bald Ancient One tell you too?! Greater trials await you in the future." To persuade Lin Feng, the system even brought up The Ancient One.

"Fine, fine." Lin Feng replied helplessly. Looking at the universe as a whole, Superman really was not all that impressive.

"One last question. Is this mission life-threatening?"

"Life-threatening?" The system clearly paused. After thinking for a moment, it said in an uncertain tone, "Probably not?"

"What do you mean, probably not?!" Lin Feng's face darkened. "Explain yourself clearly."

"The corrupted Superman is Superman, yes, but you're Superman too!" the system explained. "I think it shouldn't be much of a problem..."

"Didn't I say it already? The only thing you need to be especially careful about is guarding against the Exile..."

"Fine!" Lin Feng was utterly speechless. That was practically the same as saying nothing!

He knew his crossing over would not be simple enough for him to live comfortably, as Jane might have.

Sure enough, just as he had expected, saving the Marvel world was not enough. He also had to save other worlds.

And some of the information the system had revealed gave Lin Feng a sense of impending crisis.

He had originally thought that after becoming Superman, he could be invincible in the early stages. But from the information the system had revealed, he needed to become stronger as soon as possible.

Lin Feng vaguely had a feeling that his leisurely days were numbered.

"One more question." Lin Feng narrowed his eyes, his expression unreadable. "You're so familiar with the Exile's system?"

"Can I take that to mean you can communicate with those subsidiary systems?"

"You aren't a villain too, are you?"

Upon hearing Lin Feng's question, the system fell silent.

Lin Feng did not rush it. He simply drove while waiting for the system's answer.

After a long while, the system's voice sounded again. "The Host's guess is correct. This system belongs to the superhuman growth system, and we do indeed communicate with one another..."

"However, I will not do anything that harms the world..."

The system's answer confirmed Lin Feng's suspicions.

What he had thought was merely Jane's simple cheat system seemed to conceal an unspeakable secret behind it.

"Let me guess again. Do I have to become Silver Superman before I can learn more?" Lin Feng tapped his fingers against the steering wheel and asked with a cold laugh.

This clichéd plot was exactly like something out of a novel.

Sure enough, the system's answer did not disappoint Lin Feng. "That's right. Once the Host exchanges for the Silver Superman Template, you will learn about deeper matters."

"Host, rest assured. Since the system has bound itself to you, our fortunes are shared. Everything is done for the future of both the system and the Host!"

"Alright, I'll trust you this once," Lin Feng said indifferently.

His current abilities had been given to him by the system. No matter what the system said, Lin Feng knew what he was doing. He only needed to remain vigilant at all times and avoid being placed in a passive position.

He stopped dwelling on it. Everything would be revealed once he exchanged for the Silver Superman template.

While thinking about the mission, Lin Feng picked up Susan and returned to the villa.

After Jane simply prepared and enjoyed dinner.

The two cuddled together on the sofa and watched television.

Lin Feng checked the mission timer. In less than an hour, he would cross over to DC.

He planned to explain a few things to Susan. Otherwise, if he disappeared without saying anything, Susan would worry.

Lin Feng was no longer alone.

With that in mind, Lin Feng said, "Susan, I may need to leave for a while."

"About ten days, no more than half a month at the longest!"

"Hm? Lin, where are you going?" Susan sat on the sofa, leaning against Lin Feng's chest.

Hearing that Lin Feng would be gone for so long, she raised her little head and asked in confusion.

"Oh! Baby, you know I'm Superman!" Lin Feng held Susan close and smiled casually on the surface. "There are some matters I need to deal with!"

"It's only ten days. It'll pass quickly!" Seeing Susan's little face full of worry, Lin Feng comforted her.

"Take this contact information." Lin Feng handed Susan a card with Tony Stark's contact details on it.

"You may not be able to reach me for the next few days. If you need anything, call Iron Man!" Lin Feng instructed. He had already spoken with Tony and asked him to look after Susan while he was gone.

This was called preparing for a rainy day!

"I understand, Lin." Susan nodded and accepted the card. After hesitating for a moment, she still asked, "Will you be in danger?"

"What are you thinking, baby? Of course there's no danger!" Lin Feng confidently patted his chest, his two solid pectoral muscles trembling!

"What in this world could possibly threaten Superman!"

Of course, Lin Feng would not tell her that he might be in danger. That would only cause unnecessary worry.

"Alright!" Lin Feng coaxed. "Don't worry about me. The journey is just a little far, which is why it'll take so much time. Just wait for me to come back with peace of mind!"

"I'll bring you a gift!"

Susan nodded worriedly and reminded him, "Then you need to be extra careful while you're out there alone!"

Hearing Susan's concerned words, Lin Feng smiled and nodded in agreement.

Looking at the time, there were only ten minutes left. Lin Feng changed into his Superman suit and came outside the villa.

"Remember what I told you. If anything happens, find Iron Man!"

"Don't be polite with him! He still owes me something!" After reminding her once more, Lin Feng gently kissed Susan on the forehead, then leaped into the sky.

Boom!

With the sound of a sonic boom, Lin Feng swiftly vanished from Susan's sight.

Watching Lin Feng fly away, Susan remained standing where she was for a long time, her eyes filled with worry.

Although Lin Feng had told her that this trip was not dangerous.

Susan was a smart woman. Lin Feng was Superman, but who was Superman?

He was someone who could lift a cargo ship with his bare hands and fly, and even send monsters into outer space.

Could a matter that even Superman needed more than ten days to handle truly carry no danger at all?

Clearly, Susan also knew that Lin Feng had said that only so she would not worry.

Susan could not stop Lin Feng from confronting danger. If she did, he would no longer be Superman.

Gently gripping the pendant Lin Feng had given her, Susan silently prayed for Lin Feng in her heart.
