Clark seized the opening during a brief lapse in Lin Feng's focus.
With one punch, Lin Feng was smashed straight into the ground, carving out a massive crater.
Now he was getting the same treatment Clark had received earlier.
His blood churned, and Lin Feng spat out a mouthful of blood.
His arms, which had blocked the attack, felt numb and agonizing, as if they had lost all sensation.
"If you don't leave now, you're really going to die!" the system's cold voice rang out again.
Lin Feng panted heavily as he slowly flew out of the crater.
The corrupted Clark simply hovered in midair, staring at Lin Feng.
The next second, red Light flared in both their eyes.
One black and one red Heat Vision beam collided in midair.
Lin Feng's Heat Vision was clearly weaker than Clark's and was steadily forced back.
Seeing that his Heat Vision was ineffective, Lin Feng flashed away and cut it off.
The black-red beam immediately struck the ground, burning a Sea of flames into existence.
"Host, the portal is ready. You may return to the Marvel world at any time."
The system's voice sounded beside his ear again, making Lin Feng feel as if it were tempting him to run.
Lin Feng was speechless. Leave? How was he supposed to leave?
"I want to leave too, but I feel like my conscience wouldn't let me if I did," Lin Feng said, shaking his head.
His arrival had brought hope to Batman and the others.
If he ran away now, forget the embarrassment—his conscience would never let him live it down.
When he searched his own heart, he knew he was not that irresponsible.
Besides, if he left, Barry would be dead right after.
If he ran, he would indirectly be sentencing Barry to death!
With that thought, Lin Feng's gaze hardened. "I can't leave!"
"Our kind doesn't know how to run away!" Lin Feng roared, silencing the system outright.
Lin Feng forced himself to calm down and began searching for Clark's weaknesses.
Running was out of the question, but Lin Feng was not without a chance of winning.
After several exchanges, Lin Feng noticed that the controlled Clark only fought head-on.
There was no technique to his fighting whatsoever.
With the right opportunity and angle, Lin Feng might be able to turn the tables.
Without hesitation, Lin Feng decided to stall.
As he kited Clark around, he asked Batman through his earpiece how long it would take them to arrive.
Diana had brought the Kryptonite weapon. As long as it arrived, Lin Feng could turn the situation around.
"Less than ten minutes!" Bruce's voice came through.
Kiting Clark for ten minutes was not too long.
It was daytime now, and the sun's Light was abundant.
Lin Feng could take a gamble.
Lin Feng's idea was correct, but someone had no intention of letting him gamble.
Barry failed to notice that, while the two Supermen were locked in fierce combat, a pale blue pillar of Light appeared behind him.
Then, with a swish, a searing pain erupted from his chest.
Barry instantly felt all the strength drain from his body, leaving behind only unbearable pain.
It was Steppenwolf!
Steppenwolf had been teleported in by the pillar of Light, and without a word, he swung his axe at Barry.
He nearly split Barry in half.
Poor Barry was ambushed before he could even cry out, and his life hung by a thread.
Steppenwolf kicked the half-dead Barry aside, picked up the Mother Box from the ground, and revealed a satisfied smile.
What did fighting matter compared to the Mother Box? This was Steppenwolf's true objective.
"The end is near!" Steppenwolf shouted, and the two people fighting in midair looked over at once.
"Clark, come with me!" At his command, the pillar of Light appeared again.
Seeing Barry lying on the ground with a pool of red blood spreading beneath him, Lin Feng was both furious and anxious.
"Damn it, that's not fair!"
That moment of distraction gave Clark his chance.
A punch drove into Lin Feng's kidney, blasting him a long distance away once again.
Clark, meanwhile, obeyed Steppenwolf's command and flew to his side.
The pale blue pillar of Light enveloped the two of them and teleported them away.
The Mother Box was already in hand. There was no need to fight a Superman any longer; there were too many unknowns.
"Damn it!"
Lin Feng flew back with a face full of rage, watching helplessly as the portal vanished.
As for Barry, thankfully, he still had a breath left in him.
Lin Feng hurriedly took out the small green bottle. Less than half a bottle of liquid remained inside.
He opened the cap and carefully dripped it onto Barry's chest wound and the wound on his ankle.
After a few drops, Barry's injuries began healing rapidly, and his breathing steadied once more.
He touched his wounds and moved his ankle, exclaiming in astonishment, "You saved me, Superman!"
At that moment, Barry desperately wanted to cry.
Who knew how much pressure he had been under during this time?
Just when hope had finally arrived, Steppenwolf nearly killed him with a sneak attack.
Life truly was full of wild ups and downs...
Right now, Barry only wanted to have a good cry, take a hot bath, and then feast on some delicious food.
But that dream would have to wait.
Things had gotten even worse.
Lin Feng dropped onto the ground and began resting.
He raised his head to look at the sky and said grimly, "Things have gotten worse, Barry."
"They took the Mother Box!"
This could be called Lin Feng's first difficult battle since gaining Superman's powers.
Yet the outcome was far from satisfying.
Steppenwolf had still taken the Mother Box. Lin Feng had thought he could stop all this.
Reality had taught him a harsh lesson.
Still, Lin Feng was not overly dejected.
After all, compared to the original story, this incident was full of variables.
And Clark was the greatest variable among them.
Buzz...
A black fighter jet slowly descended from the sky and landed before them.
Batman and the others had finally arrived.
Bruce stepped out of the fighter jet in his Batman armor, followed by Diana and the others.
He saw the two sitting on the ground, both wearing grim expressions.
Looking around, he saw irregular craters everywhere. A fierce battle had clearly just taken place here.
When he did not see the Mother Box, Bruce's expression grew grave.
"Oh, man! You finally got here!" Barry nearly burst into tears when he saw them arrive.
Bruce nodded. "Thanks for the effort, Barry. You weren't hurt, were you?"
Barry jumped to his feet. "I almost died!"
"Lin Feng healed me with some strange liquid... no, magical liquid!"
Seeing Barry hopping around like someone perfectly fine, Bruce stopped paying attention to him and looked at Lin Feng instead.
Lin Feng looked rather disheveled.
His hair was messy, and his face was bruised, though the discoloration was fading. His suit, however, was covered in tears and scratches.
Before Bruce could say anything, Lin Feng spoke first. "The situation has gotten worse, Bruce."
"Clark became much stronger after being controlled, and they took the Mother Box too!"
Bruce's expression darkened again at those words. Just as he had expected.
Diana also rushed over. She immediately noticed Lin Feng's injuries. "Lin Feng! You're hurt?!"
She abandoned her weapon and stepped closer to inspect his wounds.
Beneath the torn suit were savage wounds radiating a black-red aura, refusing to heal.
Blood was also slowly seeping out.
With corruption and berserk rage combined, Clark's Heat Vision was like magic, preventing even Lin Feng's Superman physique from healing quickly.
Lin Feng turned toward Diana and gave her a faint smile.
He nodded reassuringly. "Don't worry, I'm fine..."
Then he turned to Bruce and said, "I'm sorry, Bruce. I couldn't protect the Mother Box!"
Bruce merely nodded calmly. "This isn't your fault, Lin Feng. We still have a chance!"
"Get on the jet first. Tell us exactly what happened."
Bruce truly had no intention of blaming Lin Feng.
It had not been easy for Lin Feng to save Barry from Clark.
Hearing Bruce's words, Lin Feng shook his head. He planned to treat his wounds first.
Clark's black-red Heat Vision seemed to possess some kind of magic.
It had made his injuries heal incredibly slowly.
"Let Barry tell you. He knows everything!" Lin Feng said. "I'm going to outer space."
"Without the atmosphere blocking it, the intense solar radiation will make my wounds heal quickly!"
Lin Feng explained, "Once I recover, I'll come find you!"
Bruce also knew the sun's effects on Superman.
So he nodded. "Fine. Once you're ready, go to my base!"
"This is the address of the base..." Bruce pulled out a card from somewhere, with a line of writing on it.
"Hurry. We don't have much time!" Bruce added.
Lin Feng took the card, nodded to Bruce and the others, then shot into the sky and vanished from their sight.
