Ophelia sounded puzzled.
"He called the guards just because of that? Isn't that reckless? What if we really were from the research facility? It would've been a huge misunderstanding."
Lin Feng smiled.
"What kind of world are we living in? It's the apocalypse!"
"Being cautious is only normal. That Dr. Kevin has more sense than you do!"

The descending elevator soon reached the tenth floor.
Lin Feng stepped out and walked down a long corridor to the laboratory Dr. Kevin had mentioned.

The tenth and eleventh floors were much the same.
Only on the twelfth floor did something catch Lin Feng's attention.

Each pod also had an electronic display.
Lin Feng counted over a hundred pods. Ninety percent of their displays showed the word "Failure" in red.
Clearly, those test subjects had failed.
A few displays, however, read "Success."
Lin Feng took a casual look at those pods.
Through their windows, he saw test subjects with cables running all over their bodies. Some were men and some were women, but none wore any clothes.
The subjects showed obvious signs of mutation.
The worst one appeared to have grown a layer of scales.
Two of them, though, looked no different from ordinary humans.
Lin Feng stopped in front of one pod. *These
