"Lord Shanhai!"
At Lin Feng's arrival, Li Xieqian promptly put on a show of standing at attention.
His attitude toward Lin Feng was visibly different from before.
After greeting him, Li Xieqian introduced the others to Lin Feng.
Lin Feng committed their faces to memory and nodded to them.
"Wait here for a moment. I'll go finish the verification and be right back..."

They had gathered here to make themselves known to him and pledge their loyalty while they were at it.
Lin Feng understood their deeper purpose, too. They likely wanted to figure out how he operated so they wouldn't cross him.
He neither liked nor disliked such an obvious move. It was only normal.
But to Lin Feng, they were little more than random faces. He had no intention of settling in and building a future with the Black Robes.
Once Lin Feng left, the tension in the room eased, and the others sat down again.
"Lord Shanhai really is young up close..." Sea marveled.
This was the first time he had seen Shanhai at close range. He had heard about him and watched the Faction Contest on his terminal, but neither compared to seeing him in person.
"But he doesn't seem all that frightening?"
"That doesn't quite match what's in the files," Hana murmured. Her voice was low, but with everyone's abilities, they heard her clearly.
The files described Shanhai as exceptionally hot-tempered. Yet Hana's first impression of him was of a friendly young man from next door: bright, cheerful, and quick to smile.
Li Xieqian shook his head.
"Don't underestimate him. Show him the respect he deserves, or one day you might find this no longer attached to your neck!"
