Ch. 101Harley Quinn: I'm Gotham's Baddest Bitch
Chapter Summary
- Harley takes control of the Iceberg Lounge: After defeating Penguin and Sophia Falcone, Harley forces Penguin to hand over all ownership certificates for the Iceberg Lounge. Though furious and unwilling, Penguin complies out of fear of what Harley might do.
- Batwoman and the Birds of Prey arrive: Batwoman enters with the authorities and finds Penguin and Sophia captured. Seeing Harley protect Gotham, Kate praises her as a good person and a superhero. Black Canary and Huntress agree, viewing Harley as one of their own.
- Harley rejects the “hero” label: Determined not to suffer the fate of Mr. Freeze, Harley insists that she is still a villain. To prove it, she dramatically declares herself “Gotham’s baddest bitch,” kisses Batwoman, and pushes her outside so she can announce Harley’s villainous identity to the city. Despite Harley’s protests, the police and media continue treating her as a hero because she stopped two major criminals.
- The Birds of Prey disperse: Black Canary and Huntress flee before they can be caught up in the media attention. Harley remains behind to deal with the consequences of her unwanted heroism.
- Batman coerces Poison Ivy: Batman asks Poison Ivy to help develop a formula to save the Joker’s life. Ivy refuses because Harley hates the Joker and because she believes his death would be beneficial. Batman threatens to burn every plant in Gotham, forcing Ivy to cooperate. His determination to save Joker remains unexplained.
- Li Ang supports the distressed girls: At home, Li Ang and the girls watch Harley’s embarrassing television appearance. Rachel is grieving the loss of her foster mother, while Ciri has been crying and fears being abandoned. Kara stays with Ciri as Li Ang comforts them, cooks noodles, and helps the girls settle down together for the night.
- Harley questions her identity: When Harley returns, she is upset and asks Li Ang whether she is truly a supervillain. He reassures her that she is not, but she becomes even more distressed when he suggests that being a good person might be acceptable. After explaining the night’s events, Harley asks whether Li Ang would sacrifice himself for her as Mr. Freeze sacrificed himself for Nora.

- Black Canary and Huntress accept Harley as part of their heroic team, unintentionally frustrating her.
- Batman displays a ruthless willingness to threaten Poison Ivy in order to save Joker.
- Poison Ivy remains loyal to Harley and strongly opposes helping Joker, but is forced into cooperation.
- Li Ang acts as a caretaker and emotional anchor, supporting both Harley and the grieving children.
- Rachel and Ciri show vulnerability after recent trauma, while Kara provides Ciri with companionship.
Significant Themes
- Heroism versus villainy: Harley’s actions are heroic, but she desperately wants to preserve her villainous identity.
- Identity and social perception: Harley’s self-definition clashes with how Batwoman, the police, and the public see her.
- Compassion and sacrifice: Mr. Freeze’s sacrifice prompts Harley to question Li Ang about the lengths he would go to protect her.
- Found family and emotional support: Li Ang’s household supports one another through grief, fear, and confusion.
- Moral ambiguity: Batman’s attempt to save Joker and his threat against Ivy demonstrate that even heroic characters can use coercion and questionable methods.
