The cool moonlight replaced the sunset, shining down on the battered streets of Kuketsu Island.
At the intersection of four districts, Page One and Apoo sorted through the spoils looted from the four districts.
Gold and silver, weapons and ammunition, illegal drugs, food and medicine... All supplies were categorized and recorded.
Kid lay on a makeshift stretcher, wrapped in bandages. His abdomen had received emergency treatment, and an IV drip hung from his arm.
He was still unconscious, but his breathing had stabilized. Killer was tied up nearby, his mask removed to reveal a pale, youthful face.
Kaku sat atop a protruding rock, holding a Den Den Mushi as he spoke with the others.
The call was brief, ending in just a few minutes. Kaku put away the Den Den Mushi and jumped down from the rock.
"Mr. Kaku, why did you have that red-haired brat treated?"
Apoo walked over, voicing his dissatisfaction.
"I asked around. That brat is arrogant and unruly, and he's definitely not someone willing to submit to others. Doing this is a complete waste of resources."
Kaku glanced at Apoo.
"These are the leader's orders. The leader will be here in a few days. Before he arrives, that red-haired brat cannot die. The leader is interested in his abilities."
"Apapapa, the leader really is merciful."
Apoo gave an awkward smile, his piano-key teeth gleaming coldly beneath the moonlight.
"He's far kinder than I am. If it were me, I wouldn't leave someone like this alive. Potential enemies should be eliminated as early as possible."
He shook his head and turned back to continue sorting the loot.
"I'll get back to work first. Are we keeping watch tonight?"
"Yes. You take the first shift. I'll wake Page One at two in the morning to take over."
"Understood."
