Dawn first went to Kaku's room. He merely knocked on the door and gave a quiet order:
"Something's up. Rats have infiltrated the island."
In less than a minute, Kaku was fully dressed and pushing open the door. There was no trace of sleepiness on his face, only calm focus.
"Understood, sir. I'll begin the search immediately."
Kaku answered, flashed forward, and vanished into the shadows of the corridor, moving cleanly and efficiently.
Next, Dawn turned toward the room Kalifa and Robin shared. He pushed the door open without hesitation—he had no use for such tedious formalities.
"Ah!"
"Who is it?!"
Two brief cries rang out almost simultaneously. Then, two swishes cut through the air.
Smack! Smack!
Dawn felt two soft yet surprisingly forceful palms strike his cheeks one after the other. It did not hurt, but the sound was crisp.
A candle was quickly lit, revealing two pretty faces still shaken and flushed with embarrassment. Kalifa adjusted her signature glasses, anger burning behind the lenses;
Robin clutched the blanket tightly around herself, her cheeks bright red.
"Dawn! Can't you knock before entering?!"
"Enemies have infiltrated the island. There may be more than one."
Dawn rubbed his cheeks, completely unconcerned by the two slaps as he explained why he was there.
"Get up immediately and assist in searching the entire island."
The embarrassment and anger on the two women's faces were quickly replaced by gravity. They exchanged a glance and no longer had the time to complain about Dawn's reckless entrance, hurriedly beginning to dress.
Though their movements were somewhat frantic, they were highly efficient. Before long, they had also left the room and entered the night outside.
Finally, Dawn arrived outside Stussy's room. He likewise did not knock and simply pushed the door open.
However, the sight inside made him pause slightly.
Moonlight filtered through the gauze curtains, softly illuminating the large bed. Stussy slept on her side, a thin silk blanket covering only her waist, exposing a large expanse of smooth, fair back with breathtaking curves.
More importantly, in the moonlight, Dawn could clearly see that she wore nothing at all—this woman actually slept naked!
The corner of Dawn's mouth rose uncontrollably, forming an utterly wicked smile. Without the slightest hesitation, he followed the simple principle that only fools turned down a free advantage. Like a silent cheetah, he pounced from behind and firmly pulled that warm, soft body into his embrace.
"Mmph!"
Caught off guard, Stussy woke instantly! Her pretty face turned cold, murderous intent flashing through her eyes. She abruptly opened them and turned her head, only to find that handsome face, wearing a mischievous smile, inches away.
To Dawn's surprise, the frost and killing intent on Stussy's face melted away like spring snow the moment she recognized him.
Not only did she not struggle, she instead wriggled deeper into his arms like a beautiful snake, pressing their bodies even closer together. Her breath was fragrant, and her voice carried the huskiness of someone newly awakened along with a different sort of temptation.
"Well... does it feel good?"
Feeling the astonishing softness, elasticity, and warmth in his palm, Dawn unceremoniously kneaded twice more and gave an honest assessment.
"Very good. So good I can't bear to let go."
Stussy forcefully suppressed the strange sensations running through her body and the rising embarrassment in her heart, snorting with displeasure.
"Hmph... so you broke into my room in the middle of the night just to have a good feel?"
As he continued enjoying the excellent feel of the unexpected benefit, Dawn explained the reason for his presence in the same casual tone one might use to discuss the weather.
"Some petty thieves have come to the island. I need you to handle them. The others have already set out. I originally came only to wake you, but I didn't expect... you had such a good habit when you slept. I couldn't resist putting my hands on you."
Stussy forcibly endured the waves of tingling brought by Dawn's seemingly magical hands, trying hard not to make any strange sounds as she lightly bit her lower lip.
"Since... since there's a mission... shouldn't you... let me go? Or do you... want to do something else under cover of night?"
Feeling the beauty in his arms gradually grow warmer and sensing her hesitant, half-refusing test, Dawn suddenly released her. He smoothly rolled out of bed and stood beside it.
"I'm not someone who likes to force things."
He adjusted a collar that did not need adjusting, his tone returning to calm.
"Especially with a woman like you. I'd rather wait for the day when you willingly lie in my arms."
"I believe that day won't be far away."
Stussy froze. The sudden disappearance of that touch and warmth left an inexplicable emptiness in her heart.
She had originally prepared herself for the worst and had even begun considering how to deal with the aftermath, yet she had not expected Dawn to let go so decisively.
Even as she sighed in relief, an indescribably complicated emotion rose within her. She stared deeply at Dawn standing beside the bed, her expression shifting unpredictably.
She quickly rose and began dressing in front of Dawn without any hesitation. Her movements were elegant and swift, though the faint redness of her ears exposed how much less calm she was than she appeared.
"I don't know where you got that confidence,"
Stussy finished dressing, slipped into her high heels, and walked to the window. With her back to Dawn, her voice returned to its usual slightly lazy, detached tone.
"But I'm not a woman who falls for men so easily. If you let this opportunity slip by, you'll regret it, Mr. Dawn."
Without waiting for Dawn's response, she flashed forward, using Soru. In an instant, she disappeared through the window and merged into the night outside.
Dawn looked at the empty window and smiled indifferently. He did not care about Stussy's final attempt at putting up a front. Some prey were enjoyable precisely because of the chase.
He turned and returned directly to his own room. All that remained was to wait for news from the others.
In the darkness at the edge of the mining area, the three assassins had already set several vicious traps. They hid at their predetermined ambush points, holding their breath as they waited for those "guards" below to be alerted and walk into their trap.
Suddenly, a faint rustling came from the pile of rocks nearby.
The three instantly grew alert, their muscles tensing as their hands reached for the weapons at their waists.
Suddenly, a snow-white little fox timidly poked its head out from behind the rocks and curiously looked them over.
"Whew... just a fox."
The tall, thin assassin sighed in relief and wiped nonexistent cold sweat from his forehead.
"You scared me."
"It's just an animal. Chase it away."
The assassin with the fleshy face impatiently waved his hand.
However, the female assassin seemed rather fond of the beautiful White Fox. She stopped her final inspection, crouched down, forced the kindest smile she could manage, and extended her hand to pat White Fox's little head.
"Little one, how did you end up here? Leave quickly, this place is dangerous..."
However, just as her hand reached halfway forward, a fierce, almost human-like glint flashed through White Fox's seemingly harmless eyes!
Whoosh!
The white blur sprang forth!
Fast as lightning!
"Ah—!"
The female assassin let out a shrill scream and covered her face with both hands. Blood rapidly seeped through her fingers. Several claw marks so deep that bone showed had appeared across her face!
"Attack!"
The burly assassin reacted first, immediately drawing his pistol and firing. The tall, thin one also hurriedly pulled out a dagger and lunged forward.
But White Fox moved with unimaginable agility. Her four limbs lightly touched the rocks as she shifted through the air as though weightless, effortlessly evading the bullets and the cold edge of the dagger.
In the instant she turned gracefully through the air, her two front claws became the sharpest blades, leaving afterimages as they precisely slashed across the throats of the burly man and the tall, thin man.
"Ghk... ghk..."
The two men froze, their eyes filled with disbelieving terror. Their hands clamped desperately over their necks, but they could not stop blood from spraying out like fountains. Their bodies collapsed limply to the ground.
Seeing her two companions die in an instant, the female assassin with the clawed face was terrified out of her wits. Without hesitation, she turned and tried to flee!
Assassins had never believed in avenging their companions.
At that moment, White Fox, having landed lightly, opened her mouth and spat.
An orange-red fireball the size of a human head, radiating scorching heat, appeared out of thin air and shot toward the female assassin's back like a meteor.
Boom!
The fireball exploded the instant it struck! The violent blast tore apart the night's silence. Blinding flames instantly illuminated the sky above the mine pit, completely swallowing the fleeing female assassin.
