The Ghost Envoy was silent for quite some time before he spoke. "It isn't that I don't want to tell you, Lord Warden. It's just that... I hardly know where to begin."
He let out a long sigh.
There was something complicated in his voice, something Ji Yuan could not quite pin down.
"It wasn't that simple."
The Ghost Envoy spoke slowly. "What happened involved far more parties than you might imagine. It was nothing like the stark division between black and white that cultivators of later generations read about in the records."
