Sun Tong accepted the jade cup and glanced down into it, immediately frowning.
The cup was small enough already, but there was barely any wine in it.
He lifted his eyelids and shot Ji Yuan a look, muttering, "This little? Who is it supposed to be enough for? It would not even be enough for this old man to rinse his mouth."
Though his mouth was full of disdain, his hands did not hesitate in the slightest.
First, he raised the cup beneath his nose and sniffed it several times with great care.
Only after confirming that the aroma was pure and contained nothing that should not have been there did he press the rim to his lips, tip back his head, and drain it in one gulp.
The instant the wine went down his throat, Sun Tong's entire monkey face turned bright red. Even his silver-white fur faintly took on a blush of pink.
He kept his mouth tightly shut, his cheeks puffed high, and held it in for more than a dozen breaths before suddenly opening his mouth and exhaling a cloud of foul air.
The moment that breath left his mouth, the spiritual energy throughout the wooden hall trembled with it. Even the vines hanging from the walls rustled beneath the gust.
"Good wine!"
Sun Tong's eyes lit up. "Damn it, this wine has some kick!"
He looked down at the empty cup in his hand, then back up at Ji Yuan. His mouth smacked twice as though he were savoring the potency of the wine still churning in his belly.
A moment later, his expression shifted slightly and became more serious.
He closed his eyes and silently sensed it again. When he opened them, his gaze gleamed sharply.
"This wine of yours is indeed quite good.
