These spiderwebs were no ordinary silk. They were laced with a deadly poison.
The slightest contact with skin was enough for the poison to seep into the blood vessels, rapidly destroy the body's red blood cells, and cause blockages.
But an attack of this caliber clearly could not hurt Nameless or Xia Shu.
Suddenly, flames sprang up among the webs. One sweep of fire burned them all to ash. Nameless and Xia Shu split up, one charging toward the right side of the pit, the other toward the left.
They both knew how strong the other was and had no fear for each other's safety.
Xia Shu leaped out of the pit. The instant her toes touched the ground, she became a black blur weaving through the swarm of spiders. Every spider in her wake burst apart, spraying green fluid everywhere.
On the other side, Nameless moved with even greater ease. Like a sprite stepping across flower petals, he flickered through the swarm. Every spider he passed split in two, only toppling after he had moved on.
"Follow me!" Xia Shu called to Nameless.

Xia Shu jumped down at once, with Nameless close behind.

She set off toward the strongest fluctuations, and Nameless followed.
