The mouth snapped shut. Gu Yue's tail struck again, but hit the floor.

Not far from Gu Yue, Nameless emerged from another mouth and flicked a beam of golden light at him.

He hadn't used it earlier because he couldn't tell whether the Spider Queen counted as an Insectified Beast or something else entirely.
If the Spider Queen had been an Exotic Beast all along, her Origin Text certainly wouldn't have been the Insect Character.
Exotic Beasts like Little Otter were hard to guess. He might get all four tries wrong, and if he did, he would only be strengthening the enemy.
But Gu Yue was worth a gamble.
Gu Yue knew nothing about Nameless Name's ability. With the golden light already upon him and no time to dodge, he raised both arms and watched it sink into his body.

Gu Yue frowned. He wasn't hurt.
Then Nameless fired another golden beam. Gu Yue dodged it, snatched up a scrap of iron from the floor, and hurled it at him.
Gu Yue's strength was immense now. The iron flew with astonishing speed. Nameless had only just fired a third beam when it was already before his eyes. He had no choice but to conjure a mass of Imaginary Flowers to block it.
The iron struck the Imaginary Flowers, and both changed shape in an instant. The irregular, tile-shaped scrap rapidly curved into a bull's horn. Under enormous pressure, its sharp tips pressed toward Nameless behind the flowers.
But Nameless caught the iron with one hand and swallowed it. At the same time, he fired another golden beam bearing the Insect Character at Gu Yue.
