Tiger Fur Village.
It was a small village beside a lake.
Because tiger fur was often found along the lakeshore, it had simply been named Tiger Fur Village.
Tiger Fur Village had few residents, only fifty households in total. The villagers also had a custom of intermarrying with neighboring villages. The girls from the village usually married into neighboring villages, while the young men married girls from those villages.
Since the villagers of each village were all related by marriage and visited one another frequently, any major or minor incident in the surrounding area would soon spread from village to village through the mouths of the aunts and gossips.
Tonight, a young man who had gone into the county town for the market fled back and said that a demon had been killing people in the county. The great demon there had been unable to stop it and had been killed by that great demon.
The village chief sensed that something was wrong, so he ordered all the elderly, children, and women in the village to hide in the cellars. The able-bodied young men gathered together to guard against the demon coming to their door.
Actually, everyone still held on to a sliver of hope at this point. They felt it was impossible for things to line up so perfectly.
Why would that great demon come to their village of all places?
The young men held clubs, hoes, and long sabers as they hid in courtyards and houses throughout the village entrance. Agile youths lay on rooftops, their eyes constantly surveying the surroundings.
Hu Daniu held a sturdy club and approached the old village chief, whispering, "Chief, it's late. Why don't you go rest in the back room? That demon probably wouldn't even think much of our run-down Tiger Fur
