Ten minutes later, Nameless found Wang Qiang's body.
A bloodstained watermelon knife lay beside Wang Qiang. Several dead rats lay nearby too. He had clearly fought the mutated rats before he died.

Nameless picked up the watermelon knife and kept walking.
At last, he found Jing Xiu's body. Some enormous claw had killed him, gouging out everything beneath the right side of his chest. His death seemed to have come without warning.
"So that's what happened."
The moment Nameless saw Jing Xiu's body, the final piece fell into place in his mind.
A huge, humanoid monster had attacked the warehouse. Jing Xiu had followed Nameless's instructions and led the others away without hesitation, but the monster had pursued them all the way.
"Hee hee hee hee."
A strange giggle suddenly came from somewhere ahead.
No human could have made that sound. Nameless looked ahead and saw a rat three meters tall, with a human head growing from the end of its tail. It watched him with an almost human gaze, as though it were smiling.
The sight was terrifying.
In the dim passage, a rat larger than an ox crouched on the ground. Its face held traces of human features, an uncanny likeness that could strike fear deep into anyone who saw it.
Someone who had never fought before, and whose courage was anything less than exceptional, would probably lose their nerve at the sight of it. Fighting it would be out of the question.
"Was that rat one of yours?" Nameless asked.
He didn't expect the rat to understand human speech. As he spoke, he strode toward it, a strange, oppressive air gathering around him.
The rat that was supposed to be his prey narrowed its eyes as he approached. Its sharp claws drew back.
