"Ahem. Let's go out and see what's going on first."

After a moment, Nameless was the first to stand and break the silence. He looked at the other three as he spoke.

Outside, the sky was dark with clouds, as though a torrential downpour might begin at any moment. The air felt oppressive, and even the wind seemed heavy.

The four left the house. Nameless glanced up at the sky and frowned. "First, let's find somewhere high up and get a look at the terrain. Then we'll find the authorities and see if we can get more information. Since we're playing demon hunters hired for the job, they must have found some traces of the Ogre. We need to know what they found."

With no idea how strong the Ogre was, the four did not split up.

They went first to the town's bell tower to survey the terrain from above. It was not the kind of tower with a clock, just one with a bronze bell hanging at the top and a rope dangling from it.

The bell tower stood in the center of the town square. The town officials rang it when they needed to gather the residents.

From the tower, they could see a dilapidated wall encircling the town and a few militiamen dozing at their posts. Perhaps because rain was coming, there were very few people on the streets. The whole town seemed asleep, with nothing to be heard but the wind.

"All right, let's go to the town government building." Nameless committed the town's layout to memory, then spoke to the other three.

The town was small, but it had all its vital organs. From the buildings alone, Nameless could easily guess which one housed the government. When they arrived, the mayor received them promptly.
