"Don't be afraid. I'm here!"
Zhang Ping answered as he healed Cheng Xuejie's wounds.
But Cheng Xuejie said defiantly, "I'm not afraid. The moment I joined the Cleanup Team, I was ready to die!"
She charged forward over the Flame Scorpions, then swept her leg across the ground, sending the ones around her flying. Gritting her teeth, she said, "There are too many Flame Scorpions. I'm afraid I won't make it out. If I die, tell the others I fought to the end. I didn't disgrace the Cleanup Team!"
There were too many Flame Scorpions here. Everywhere she looked, she saw more of them.
She was in a low-lying area surrounded by dunes. Flame Scorpions kept crawling over the dunes and closing in on her from every side.
Zhang Ping could feel Cheng Xuejie's despair, and he understood why she felt it.
In terrain like this, unless she could fly or had an attack that covered a wide area, she would have a hard time fighting her way out with just her fists and feet.
"Don't give up, senior! Believe in your ability!" Zhang Ping urged.
"Of course I believe in it, but do you really think I'll survive?" Cheng Xuejie snapped. As she spoke, she kicked a Flame Scorpion away.
She couldn't stop moving now. If she did, the Flame Scorpions would reach her.
Their venomous stingers were no joke.
If Zhang Ping hadn't arrived in time, the venom might already have brought her down, leaving her as food for the Flame Scorpions.
"You can survive. Remember the training method I told you about? Have you ever thought about where your strength, speed, and defense come from? What is your power, at its core?" Zhang Ping asked earnestly.
He knew Cheng Xuejie's body inside and out—even better than she
