The next day.
Zhang Ping was still asleep, but his body was carrying the Healing White Tiger around Mingzhu City at a run.
Several times, he reached the edge of Mingzhu City, only to turn a corner and run back. Zhu Yanbing and the others got their hopes up for nothing each time. Eventually, they went numb to it.
"How many laps now?"
Zhu Sanchi had gone back to sleep for a while. When he woke and found Zhang Ping still running, he yawned and asked Zhu Rina.
Beside him, Zhu Rina held a pair of binoculars. "One hundred and fifty-eight," she said flatly.
"What a stamina monster!" Zhu Sanchi sucked in a cold breath and muttered a curse.
The Mingzhu City Ruins covered a vast area. With the buildings destroyed, there was no need to follow winding roads, which saved a great deal of time. Even so, an ordinary person would need several hours to run a single lap around Mingzhu City. It was practically a marathon.
The Awakened were human too. Their stamina was better than an ordinary person's, and a dozen laps around Mingzhu City would be manageable. But one hundred and fifty-eight was absurd. The vast majority of Awakened simply did not have that much stamina to spare.
"Are we just going to keep watching him?" Zhu Sanchi asked, taking out some rations and eating as he spoke.
Not far away, Zhu Yanbing lay resting in the grass. He was not actually asleep, though, and answered, "What else?"
"We could send someone to lure him out, then find an excuse to leave." Zhu Sanchi's eyes darted as he rubbed his gleaming bald head.
Zhu Rina sneered. "Then why don't you go?"
"I'm a grown man. Obviously I wouldn't do. But you, Rina, might have a chance.
