What was space?

In the past, Nameless would have answered without hesitation: space was a kind of energy.

But after his experience in Giant Lizard City, he had gained a new understanding: space was like water, yet also like ice. Different shapes could even give it different properties.

Yet when he flew out of the city and came face-to-face with the enormous O-shaped bubble of space, he was lost again.

The inside of the O-shaped bubble was a hazy white. At first, he thought it was round, but from another angle, he realized it was flat, like a mirror.

Yet calling it flat was not quite right either, because it truly contained a vast space.

"There's blood inside!"

Nameless suddenly spotted a pool of blood in the white haze. It looked unreal, like red mist that dispersed and gathered by turns.

Was someone in there?

Were they still alive?

He had only meant to take a look. Going inside had never crossed his mind.

After all, this world would soon be destroyed. Once he had moved everyone out, this fragment would fall into the void as the world collapsed. There was no need for him to deal with it.

But if someone inside was waiting to be rescued, that changed everything.

When he tried to enter the space, however, a premonition struck him: if he went in, he would die!

"Some unknown danger?"
