His duties were limited to refilling the lamp with oil and winding its mechanism. Most of his time was spent fishing and watching everyone who landed on the island.
The island was called Soothing Island. At regular intervals, blond, blue-eyed foreigners came and went. Abe had to record their movements and report them to his superior.
