The Mechanical God Race's enslavement of humanity was this harsh.
To be honest, Nameless thought it was outrageous to divide people so explicitly into ranks. But similar things had existed in Earth's ancient past, and the country next to his homeland still used "surnames" to determine social standing, so he could just about understand it.
What he could not imagine was that even what a person ate each day was strictly controlled. There were robots assigned to inspect human waste to determine whether anyone had broken the rules.
He could not make sense of it. His entire worldview was shattered.
After a long while, Nameless asked, "Why? Are they afraid you'll grow too strong from eating well and overthrow their rule?"
"Sir, I'm not too sure either. I think it has something to do with permissions." Luo Xiang scratched the back of his head, unsure how to answer.
The world had already been like this when he was born. Adults had taught him many rules without telling him why, and all he could do was follow them.
Perhaps his parents had not known the reasons either. The rules had simply been passed down from generation to generation.
No talking outdoors. No eating food above one's station. No drawing, no humming at will, no showing more than three teeth when smiling, no wearing shoes. Above all, no drawing a mouse with big ears or a duck that wore a shirt but no pants...
The rules imposed on humans in this world were beyond imagining.
Nameless was curious about the reasons, but Luo Xiang did not know. The knowledge in people's minds came from two sources: one was knowledge implanted by the Mechanical God Race, which seemed to appear out of thin air; the other was what their parents taught them.
But
