"I could tell."
Trevor had no idea what Jin Dong had been through, but the weathered look on his face somehow struck a chord with him.
A moment later, they reached the courtyard. Almost everyone from the Golden Family had arrived. Men and women, young and old, gathered together, casting curious looks at Owl and the others as they appeared.
The fat old man and the old mayor walked to the front. The fat old man said, "Everyone, some of you may not know about the black storm, while others do. Those who know, tell those who don't. Those who don't, ask someone who does. In short, follow me!"
Short and concise.
With that, the fat old man headed down a branching path on the other side of the courtyard. Everyone followed in an orderly fashion. A few people who knew Jin Dong came over to ask about Owl and his companions. When they learned that they were descendants of the patriarch's friend, they all greeted them with smiles.
Owl really wanted to correct them. Trevor was the old mayor's grandson; the rest of them were merely taking shelter together for the time being. They were not his descendants.
But no one gave him a chance to explain. As they chatted, the conversation drifted to the black storm, and everyone began talking over one another, offering their opinions.
Well, apparently they had not taken the matter to heart either.
The narrow mountain path twisted and turned, gradually passing through the residential area and entering a woodland trail.
Beyond the trail lay a small U-shaped gorge, with a massive gate at its far end.
Built flush against the rock face, the gate stood a full ten meters tall.
The fat old man stepped forward and pressed both hands against the gate.
