Background / History

Rukia is a Velocia Kingdom child who fled human traffickers in Velocia Port and accidentally ran into Charlos's group. She identified Earl Baron as a dangerous figure whose men had burned her village; she initially believed both of her parents had died in the attack. 21 22

An assassin attempted to silence her while she spoke with Charlos, but Charlos blocked the bullet with Armament Haki. Following his confrontation with Earl Baron, Charlos invited Rukia onto his ship. 22 23

Rukia later returned to her village with Amira, hoping to reunite with her father. Instead, she found him alive, drunk, and openly contemptuous of her; he admitted that Earl Ain had ordered each village to surrender a child, and that he had chosen Rukia rather than her three-year-old brother. 24 25

When her father tried to sell both Rukia and Amira, Amira defeated him with an Armament Haki-coated kick and declared that Rukia now belonged with her. Colonel Doka subsequently refused to arrest Rukia for striking her father. 25

Her confidence coexists with clear vulnerability. She was devastated by her father's rejection, became frightened by the unseen stowaway moving through the kitchen, and sought comfort from Charlos when she believed the ship was haunted. 24 25 30
