Background

Liu Feng entered the Li Family’s servant martial-arts selection with Lower B-grade aptitude, a level rare enough to make the Third Steward personally welcome him. The other recruits quickly treated him as the group’s central talent. 1

He excelled in the Primordial Stance Technique from the first lesson, receiving Instructor Jia’s praise while most trainees struggled with the opening movements. Though Li Peng repeatedly tried to use Liu Feng to embarrass Chen Xun, Liu Feng initially appeared uncomfortable with the conflict and tried to calm it down. 2

Li Peng’s frequent meals and flattery gradually drew Liu Feng into his circle. Liu Feng became proud of his talent and expected to reach Mastery rapidly, but his early association with Li Peng ended after disputes surrounding the inner-courtyard sparring-partner selection. 4 8 9

Liu Feng was the first trainee to become a Martial Artist. He was later assigned to the Ore Escort Team with Zhao Qing, then gained a far better opportunity when he found a red lizard for the Ninth Young Master and requested appointment as his attendant. 9 11 28

By the time of the Medicine Escort Team’s suspension, Liu Feng had become darker and sturdier, with a faintly sharp, hardened bearing. 23

Liu Feng initially presents himself as soft-spoken and modest when singled out by the Third Steward. He is embarrassed when Li Peng attempts to turn his talent into a weapon against Chen Xun, and he initially tries to ease tensions rather than escalate them. 1 2

Praise and privileged treatment gradually feed his pride. He becomes increasingly sensitive to Chen Xun’s progress, resents being surpassed despite his superior aptitude, and reacts badly when denied money or recognition. 11 23 34 41

His appointment as the Ninth Young Master’s attendant makes him more status-conscious and worldly. He openly belittles Zhao Qing, enjoys Chen Xun’s apparent misfortune, and uses exaggerated flattery to secure favor and cultivation resources from his master. 28 41
