When Hermione returned to the living room wearing a unicorn-hair cloak, Mr. and Mrs. Granger were both dumbstruck!
The two of them had thought the unicorn-hair shawl was already precious enough. They had never expected Li Wei to have an even more precious unicorn-hair cloak!
Hadn't Hermione said that Li Wei came from a tragic background and had grown up in an orphanage?
If that counted as a tragic background, then wasn't the little villa their family lived in inferior even to a thatched hut?
"Well? Dad, Mom, isn't the cloak Li Wei gave me beautiful?"
Hermione happily spun around in front of her parents, showing off her unicorn cloak, completely unaware that the Grangers' expressions were growing increasingly serious.
"Um, Li Wei, come with me for a moment!"
Mr. Granger could not quite figure out what Li Wei was trying to do.
Even if he was a guest in their home, how could he casually give away such valuable clothing?
Even if he was Hermione's good friend, wasn't this far too extravagant?
"Dad," Hermione looked at Mr. Granger in confusion, unsure what he wanted to discuss with Li Wei in private.
"It's all right, Hermione. We're just going to talk about something personal!"
Li Wei was perceptive enough to understand and reassured Hermione.
He even had time to give Mrs. Granger a polite smile before following Mr. Granger into an empty side room.
"Li Wei, you're Hermione's friend. I also consider you a good child close to our family. There are some things I won't beat around the bush about—I'll say them directly!"
Mr. Granger set the tone for the coming conversation, then asked in puzzlement:
"Li Wei, those two unicorn-hair garments you gave us—even though I don't know much about the wizarding world, I know they're extremely valuable!"
