Trialing the Firebolt

Roger Davies heard Cho Chang's shout and looked in the direction of the sound, only then noticing Li Wei and Professor Flitwick's arrival.

He lowered his Flying broomstick and landed in front of them, welcoming them warmly.

"Professor, and Li Wei, welcome to watch the Ravenclaw team's training!"

"Li Wei, did you come with the professor because you're joining the team?"

Only after reaching their second year were Hogwarts' young wizards allowed to join their house teams. Harry Potter had been a special exception made by Professor McGonagall.

Seeing Li Wei arrive with Professor Flitwick, Roger Davies assumed Professor Flitwick had arranged for Li Wei to join the team.

Naturally, he couldn't have wished for more. He was exceptionally welcoming, since at Ravenclaw, a house full of top students, no one was particularly enthusiastic about Quidditch.

Ravenclaw had the fewest young wizards of the four houses, and there were far more girls than boys. The girls were not especially keen on a sport like Quidditch either, so recruiting players for the house team was somewhat difficult. As the team captain, how could he not be enthusiastic?

But to Roger Davies's disappointment, both Professor Flitwick and Li Wei shook their heads in response to his eager questions and invitation.

"Professor, you should explain it."

Li Wei glanced at Professor Flitwick. If he, another young wizard, said it himself, it would feel somewhat like showing off or handing out charity.

Professor Flitwick also caught the implication and smiled at Roger Davies and the Ravenclaw team players.

"Lee Wickens, as an outstanding student of our house, saw that the team's Flying broomsticks were rather old and outdated and wanted to contribute to the house and the team!"

"He wishes to donate a batch of Flying broomsticks to everyone! Let's welcome him with applause!"
