They were red, tall and slender, with stems as thin as threads drawn out to impossible lengths.
Yet their petals were enormous.
They swayed gently in the breeze.
Despite their vivid red color, the petals seemed anything but showy. They were extraordinarily still.
Their stamens were a ghostly green, the same color as the Yellow Springs River—and as the Yellow Springs Wraiths.
At a glance, the whole world seemed made of ghostly green and vivid red. By the rules of color theory, red and green clashed; as the saying went, red with green looked worse than dog shit.
But here,
the colors were perfectly harmonious, blending into each other.
Beneath the blue sky and white clouds, the scene carried a faint sense of deathly stillness, yet it was not sinister. It was strangely gentle.
"Those are Otherworld Flowers."
