Go!!
Why not go?
They had already come this far.
Vanessa was going all out.
Though this ice-and-fire mana was honestly tormenting, the benefits it brought far exceeded her imagination.
Her Thread Magic had always been difficult to control. It had even gone completely out of control when she encountered Carl before. But under the pressure of the ice-and-fire mana, her threads were now showing signs of developing in a positive direction.
Vanessa stopped putting on airs and instantly summoned her Thread Magic.
A faint crimson glow now shimmered over the ordinary threads.
The little cat pattern woven from red thread on her arm nimbly leaped.
The threads continuously entwined around it, resisting the flames.
Though the magic was quickly burned away, Vanessa gritted her teeth and kept weaving Thread Magic.
She could feel her mana and control steadily improving.
A trace of joy appeared on Vanessa's face as she took another step forward.
But ice crystals came hurtling at her, and she felt as though she had fallen into an icy abyss.
Sharp threads continuously intertwined as her combat technique tried to shatter the ice-element magic that was about to encase her in a shell of ice.
Though she successfully blocked this freezing attack, her clothes had been shredded beyond recognition.
Even Vanessa, a mature and composed beauty, could not help blushing at that moment.
However, when she looked at Noelle beside her, she could not help finding it a little funny.
Because Noelle was in nearly the same state.
The two of them could truly be called sisters in misfortune. It was indeed rather awkward.
When they turned to look at Carl again, they found that she was openly admiring their graceful figures, with no intention of hiding it at all.
Noelle moved her tongue, called out, then shouted:
"Pervert!"
Yet Vanessa found herself somewhat admiring Carl.
At least Carl did not hide anything. There was only an appreciation of beauty in her gaze, without the slightest hint of any other thoughts.
Vanessa immediately broke into a smile and said to Carl:
"Do they look good?"
Carl immediately gave her a thumbs-up.
"You can't see these anywhere else. They're really long, really big, and really white."
Vanessa instantly blushed deeply at Carl's three-hit compliment.
She had thought she was bold enough and that Carl would be embarrassed. Who knew Carl's three-part praise would far exceed her expectations?
Noelle's expression nearly froze.
She screamed while trying to block Carl's view.
But once her movements became distorted, her mana could no longer hold back the erosion of the surrounding mana.
Even more terrifyingly, as she advanced, the fire and frost no longer attacked as single elements. Instead, they continuously intertwined and shifted.
Noelle could only force herself to gather her water magic.
Water Cannon Magic blasted continuously in every direction. Her water magic contained terrifying amounts of mana, and when it exploded around her, it generated powerful explosive force and impact, enough to temporarily fend off the damage from the ice-and-fire mana.
But this was not a long-term solution.
Noelle knew that if she could not find a way to awaken a new magic skill and gain extremely precise control, then forget about merely being embarrassed—she might even lose her life here.
Noelle looked at the bored Carl and coldly shouted:
"Stop looking and hurry up with a way to help us!"
Carl immediately waved a hand and said:
"I can go in directly.
How about I go in and take out that whatever elf remnant soul?
You two can wait outside. How does that sound?"
Noelle and Vanessa almost simultaneously turned to Carl and said in unison:
"No, absolutely not!"
Seeing how perfectly in sync they were, Carl laughed.
"Then I can only protect you two from here. But don't worry, I won't tell anyone what I see. After all, this is a bonus round."
Noelle's face instantly reddened so fiercely it was frightening.
Carl really was shameless.
When Vanessa had gotten close to her before, things had already looked suspicious. Why was she dragging Noelle into this now?
This time, she truly felt as though she had been completely exposed.
Though Noelle said nothing, the way she felt about Carl had already begun to slowly change.
Of course, when people encountered hardship, their first reaction was often to flee.
But when they discovered they could not escape at all, and that overcoming the difficulty before them would let them continue onward without obstruction, they would instantly display resilience and determination far beyond the ordinary.
Noelle and Vanessa were precisely in that situation.
As they continued moving forward, the two women were almost provoked into bringing out that stubborn toughness.
Thread Magic and water magic continuously lashed out around them.
Even as the mana in their bodies gradually ran low, neither of them had any intention of begging for mercy. They even began competing with each other.
Crack—
An ice spike pierced Noelle's foot, drawing blood.
Meanwhile, Vanessa's threads were scorched by the flames until they seared her like red-hot iron.
Carl activated the Eight Gates and swept a hand through the air, dispersing the mana fluctuations around them that they could barely resist. It gave them a moment to catch their breath and regroup.
Just as the two glared at each other like fighting cocks, a "heh-ha" sound suddenly came from the distance.
Vanessa and Noelle were startled and immediately covered their bodies tightly.
What kind of joke was this? How could there be anyone else in this place?
If someone saw them like this, how could Vanessa and Noelle ever show their faces again?
Both wore resentful expressions.
Carl, naturally familiar with the situation, handed her cloak and shirt to the two of them so they would have something to cover themselves with for the moment.
But when Vanessa and Noelle saw Carl's sculpted, muscular body and eight-pack abs, they both spat in unison.
They inwardly cursed Carl for being completely unreasonable.
Could a human really possess such a perfect body?
Their gazes kept wandering over Carl's body, as though trying to reclaim the advantage they had lost from her.
Yet the rumbling sound in the distance could not have been fake.
"Earth Creation Magic: Giant's Hammer!"
"Earth Creation Magic: Giant's Armor!"
With one furious roar after another, the ground seemed to shake without end.
It was as if some giant were about to charge over. The violent commotion made the three of them stare at one another.
Vanessa only felt her threads twitch, as though some image were about to flash before her eyes.
But as the red-thread cat's expression twisted, the blurry image before Vanessa vanished once more.
Carl looked at the two of them and said:
"Get ready. This could be anything.
You two, do you still have the strength to resist or fight?"
Noelle and Vanessa looked at each other, then smiled bitterly.
They were already at the end of their strength. If they tried to fight again, they probably would not even be able to help with a single attack.
Just as the two worried.
A massive earth dragon roared madly across the ground.
And atop the earth dragon's head stood two figures dressed in light blue.
Carl was immediately stunned.
Vanessa and Noelle forced themselves to focus.
Who were they?
