Celeste's crew clearly held the advantage. Besides their greater numbers, creatures from the Spirit World and Underworld kept pouring out of the Verdigris Gate Abrio had opened.
More creatures from the Spirit World and Underworld kept emerging.
Abrio did not take part in the undead creatures' brawl.
He walked toward the temple altar. Any undead creature that tried to intercept him was either flattened by wind pressure or blasted apart by lightning.
In the blink of an eye.
Abrio arrived behind the altar. The ground behind it was covered in cracks.
There were irregular gaps.
Cold winds blew upward from a gap between several bricks.
Abrio raised his hand and made a grasping motion, as if he had caught something.
Then he pulled hard.
His palm pressed down on the ground.
Rumble!
A thick bolt of lightning suddenly fell from above the temple.
It tore through the roof and struck the ground before Abrio.
Amid the silver-white flash came the sound of shattered stones hitting the floor.
When the lightning faded, a huge opening had been exposed before Abrio.
Looking down through the opening in the ground, he could see a weathered staircase.
It led downward, seemingly connecting to the Underworld.
Abrio summoned several strange-looking Underworld creatures and stepped onto the stairs with them.
Among them were Underworld Spiders, with human heads, spider-like bodies, and human legs instead of limbs.
There were also Undead Guardians, cloaked in a dark aura and covered in heavy dark-red armor. They had no bodies; inside their armor was only a mass of deep, shadowy light.
There were also Gray Souls, hunched over and dark gray all over,
