When the iron cage was opened, Mrs. Slin still could not believe that this homeless young girl before her had taken down all those thugs by herself.

Even if the girl was taller and sturdier than most girls.

"It's all right now, Mrs. Slin."

Nefi set her longsword by her feet and reached out to help Mrs. Slin out.

The old woman instinctively shrank back before realizing she had overreacted.

For no apparent reason, Nefi felt a faint stab in her chest. She forced a smile, lowered her hand, and stepped back.

Mrs. Slin climbed out of the cage, looked at Nefi, then at the thugs sprawled all over the ground.

A little frightened, she hunched in on herself and instinctively put some distance between herself and Nefi.

Nefi took two steps forward. "Shall I walk you home?"

As if startled, Mrs. Slin shuddered, then shook her head. "No, there's no need. I know the way. I can get back myself."

The old woman walked to the door, stopped, and sighed. "Thank you, child."

"But..."

"You need to find somewhere else to live."

Nefi's chest tightened, then she burst into laughter. "No problem, Grandma. You don't need to worry about me."

"I'll find somewhere else to stay."

"Then I won't walk you home."

Mrs. Slin nodded and hurried away. Watching the old woman disappear into the sunlight, Nefi's smile gradually faded, and her face slowly darkened.

She glanced at two familiar faces among those lying on the ground and roughly guessed why Mrs. Slin had acted that way.

Nefi walked out of the warehouse dejectedly, only to suddenly spot two 1-soli notes pinned beneath a stone by the door, along with a slip of paper.

There was a single line written on it.

"Everything will be all right."

Nefi froze.
