"What's wrong? Why are you just standing in the doorway?"
Behind him, the Seer voiced his confusion.
Sifa looked back at him. "You didn't see it?"
Caven looked baffled. "See what?"
Sifa briefly described what he had just seen. The Seer shook his head. "I didn't see anything."
"That's strange. Why was I the only one who saw it?"
Sifa entered the bedroom and looked around. "And where's Kalina's spirit? Isn't she here?"
Caven walked toward the wedding dress. "If she isn't here, where else would she be?"
Both men froze for a moment, then cried out together, "Isabella!"

Isabella was fast asleep when she suddenly felt cold. She opened her eyes groggily and found that the flame in her room's gas lamp had turned an eerie blue.
In that chilling light, she saw her blanket rise, as though someone else were underneath it with her.
Click, click, click—
Isabella's teeth chattered. Her breathing quickened, and her heart pounded so hard it seemed ready to leap into her throat.
She reached out with a trembling hand, gripped the blanket, and suddenly yanked it away!
The instant she pulled it back, Isabella saw a white shape lying on top of her. When she made out what it was, she screamed.
A wedding dress.
A white wedding dress, stained with blood at the chest, lay across her body.
It billowed as though worn by someone invisible. At her scream, the wedding dress suddenly wrapped itself around Isabella.
It tightened around her, squeezing until she could barely breathe.
She struggled desperately, but no matter what she did, she could not break free.
From inside the dress, she heard a woman's voice chanting over and over, "Put it on. Put it on. Put it on!"
