Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Sequence 9: Hunter 14 Drinks a Hunter potion brewed by Enilu from a Pas Red Wolf’s heart and supplementary ingredients. Meditation on the Book of Mysteries suppresses the potion’s chaotic effects, granting enhanced physical ability, senses, combat knowledge, and trap-making instincts. 14

Background / History

Li Zexi was an ordinary office worker in his original world who developed an interest in occultism after reading Lord of Mysteries. After performing an ancient ritual, he awakened aboard the Clover in the body of the disgraced young nobleman Sifa Disraeli. Trapped amid a shipboard massacre, he chose to survive under his new identity rather than surrender to despair. 1 3

The body he inherited carried a terrible reputation. Its memories associated Sifa with cruelty, irresponsibility, and the alleged defilement of a maid named Rachel; these accusations drove his valet Jack to murderous hatred. Later, Rachel tells Sifa that the original Sifa protected her despite public misunderstanding, leaving the truth of his predecessor’s life uncertain. 2 45

During the catastrophe aboard the Clover, Sifa killed attackers in self-defense, displayed instincts far beyond ordinary noble training, and rescued Joyce after he fell into the sea. He then used his noble status to unite the survivors, promising legal aid and arranging protection through Joyce and the former soldier Brando. 3 4 5

After returning home, Sifa deliberately presents his changed behavior as maturity born from trauma. He gains the trust of Baron Bison and Enilu, discovers their knowledge of Beyonders, and chooses the Hunter Pathway over the family’s safer institutional options. 9 12 13

Secret Life as Duke

A hidden compartment in Sifa’s wardrobe contains a black iron mask, dark coat, golden revolver, and a flyer for the Sea Monster Tavern. Investigating the tavern reveals that the original Sifa was known as Duke, Enqi Town’s most accomplished bounty hunter. 15 21 22

Sifa adopts Duke’s identity to investigate the original owner’s missing memories, obtain supernatural equipment, and operate outside the restrictions of his noble identity. His discoveries make him suspect that the original Sifa’s death aboard the ship may have been arranged. 22 23

Personality

Sifa is analytical and survival-minded. Early in his transmigration, he avoids directly confronting suspected Beyonders, instead building alliances, manipulating appearances, and making himself seem harmless enough to be ignored. 2 4 5

He is also compassionate and conscious of responsibility. He rescues Joyce, insists that the Clover survivors receive legal representation, gives money to help them return home, and refuses to punish Officer Barton for carrying out his duty. 3 7 8 9

As a Hunter, Sifa has become increasingly pragmatic. He gathers intelligence before acting, uses traps and environmental advantages, and can treat enemies or allies such as Doug as tactical tools when necessary. His moral boundaries remain clear: he secretly reports Doug’s human-trafficking operation to Saint Witte Church rather than assist it. 17 28 39

His greatest recurring weakness is curiosity. Although warned repeatedly about divine attention, spiritual exhaustion, and Loss of Control, he continues testing the Book of Mysteries and investigating secrets his family would prefer he avoid. 15 24 34

Abilities & Skills

Hunter Physiology

As a Sequence 9 Hunter, Sifa possesses heightened physical and sensory abilities.

  • Enhanced strength, agility, stamina, balance, and bodily control. 14 16 17
  • Sharpened sight, hearing, touch, and smell; his sense of smell can identify subtle traces such as Moon Flowers and blood. 14 24 37
  • Improved combat comprehension, allowing him to recall, break down, and combine fighting movements fluidly. 14
  • His senses can become overwhelming without meditation and emotional control. 15

Hunting and Trap-Making

Sifa uses the Hunter Acting Method to digest his potion by embodying the role of a patient, informed, and prepared hunter.

  • Studies targets’ habits, gathers intelligence, and creates advantageous conditions before striking. 17 40
  • Can improvise simple lethal or obstructive traps from available materials; with time and resources, he can construct interconnected traps. 14 26
  • Uses people and terrain as part of his traps, including turning a captain’s cabin and its darkness into a killing ground against the Lunatic. 39
  • Receives the “Lord of Traps” tag from the Book of Mysteries, slightly strengthening his trap-related abilities. 48

Marksmanship and Combat Instincts

Sifa’s inherited body possessed unexplained lethality even before he became a Beyonder.

  • Reacted instinctively to kill an attacking chef with a boning knife while his conscious mind froze. 3
  • Demonstrated precision shooting by shattering airborne plates and disarming Doug’s guards without killing them. 16 28
  • Uses firearms, close combat, and improvised weapons with tactical discipline. 28 38 39

Spirit Vision and Mysticism

Enilu trains Sifa in foundational mystical knowledge.

  • Can activate Spirit Vision to inspect Ether and Astral Bodies, identify emotional states, and perceive ghosts or wraiths. 21 23
  • Studies meditation, Hermesian, Ancient Feysac, ritual magic, and charm-making. 15 21
  • Has little natural talent for ritual magic and charm-making compared with Helibel. 36
  • Meditation is essential for stabilizing his heightened senses, regulating emotion, and resisting Loss of Control. 14 15

Book of Mysteries

Sifa can summon the mysterious tome known as Knowledge Authority-9 or the Book of Mysteries through ritual and prayer.

  • Its Message Board allows limited communication with extra-dimensional Watchers who provide incomplete information about pathways, history, and future opportunities. 4 15 48
  • Information is restricted by Knowledge Authority; censored content remains inaccessible. 8 24
  • Summoning, reading, and writing in the Book consume spirituality and can cause severe headaches or risk Loss of Control. 8 24 43
  • Watchers’ bookmarks, donations, and tags can directly grant Sifa resources or influence his abilities. 34 48

Mystic Artisan

Unlocked after Sifa gains Dimension Crystals through Watcher rewards.

  • Appraisal — reveals an item’s origin, abilities, and side effects. 34
  • Disassembly — extracts the Beyonder Characteristic inside an item. 34
  • Enhancement — improves an item’s properties at the cost of Dimension Crystals. 34 35
  • Sealing — reduces an item’s harmful effects. 34
  • Currently limited to items corresponding to Sequence 8 and below; it cannot affect Sealed Artifacts. 34

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Serpent-Scale Revolver — Sifa’s usual concealed firearm; he carries it when operating openly as the baron’s son. 15 31
  • Golden Revolver — a long-barreled revolver hidden by the original Sifa; used while acting as Duke. 21 28
  • Shadow Glove — an Abyss Pathway Sequence 8 mystical item created from an Unwinged Angel’s characteristic. It enhances Sifa’s strength and can summon shadow-based attacks. 22 34
    • Prolonged wear causes cold-bloodedness after 48 hours and permanently destroys the wearer’s conscience after more than ten days. Animals instinctively dislike its wearer. 35
    • Mystic Artisan enhancement gives it a 10% chance to trigger a Shadow Fist; in darkness, this becomes a 50% chance to unleash the stronger Shadow Combo. 35 39
  • Black iron mask and dark coat — Duke’s disguise, used to conceal Sifa’s noble identity. 21
  • Calamity-averting talisman — a silver protective amulet handmade by Helibel before Sifa serves as bait in the police operation. 43
  • Roselle diary page — a page in simplified Chinese found hidden in Creation Myth; Sifa recognizes it as likely belonging to Emperor Roselle’s diary. 35 36

Relationships

  • Baron Bison Disraeli — father. A politically ambitious noble who initially expelled or distrusted the old Sifa, but comes to value Sifa’s apparent maturity and increasingly supports his plans. 1 9 49
  • Enilu — mother and primary mystical mentor. An Apprentice Pathway Beyonder trained by a member of the Abraham family; she brewed Sifa’s Hunter potion and repeatedly warns him against divine dangers. 13 14 34
  • Helibel — younger sister. An experienced natural Apprentice Beyonder and talented artist who conceals her concern for Sifa beneath sarcasm and teasing. 21 36 43
  • Jom — younger brother. An affectionate, energetic child with ambitions of becoming a kingdom general; unlike Helibel, he did not inherit Enilu’s Beyonder Characteristic. 9 21
  • Matthew — loyal manservant. Supports Sifa’s hunts, secret preparations, and daily activities despite concern over his master’s abrupt changes. 15 43
  • Joyce — fellow Clover survivor from Tingen. Sifa saves him from drowning and later helps secure legal protection for him and the other passengers. 3 4 8
  • Brando — former Royal Army sergeant hired as Sifa’s temporary bodyguard aboard the Clover. Sifa later gives him money to return home. 5 8
  • Sanchi — Sea Monster Tavern bartender and information broker. He recognizes Sifa as Duke and connects him with work, equipment leads, and underworld contacts. 22 23
  • Doug — leader of the Black Tie gang. A violent criminal employer and uneasy temporary ally; Sifa reports his trafficking operation and later uses him as bait against the Lunatic. 28 39
  • Inspector Lewis — Nightwatcher investigator. Lewis works with Sifa against the Haimok case but increasingly suspects that Sifa is concealing Beyonder knowledge. 31 40 42
  • Rachel — maid connected to Sifa’s ruined reputation. She states that the original Sifa protected her and accepted blame for circumstances that did not involve him. 45

Story Role / Major Arcs

Clover Catastrophe

Sifa awakens during the massacre aboard the Clover, survives attacks by violent passengers and crew, rescues Joyce, and recognizes that the disaster may involve Beyonder forces. He uses legal promises, noble status, and feigned weakness to secure allies until the ship reaches harbor. 1 3 5

Becoming a Hunter

After returning to Enqi Town, Sifa chooses the Hunter Pathway despite the uncertain prospects for later advancement. Enilu trains him in meditation and brews his potion, after which Sifa begins applying the Hunter Acting Method through wolf hunting, investigation, and trap-making. 13 14 15 17

Duke and the Sea Monster Tavern

Sifa investigates the original owner’s hidden identity as Duke, acquires the Shadow Glove, and begins accepting bounty-hunter work. His investigations expose Doug’s trafficking scheme and lead him into the supernatural massacre aboard the ship at White Beach. 22 23 28 37

Haimok Investigation

After repeatedly encountering Gorey and the Lunatic responsible for its creation, Sifa cooperates with Lewis, Jeffrey, and Martha. He contributes Hunter-style strategy to their investigations while concealing his own Beyonder status and the Book of Mysteries. 31 40 42

The Attempted Deity Descent

By deceiving the Lunatic into believing he serves Haimok, Sifa learns that Gorey is a “passage” existing between reality and the Spirit World and is intended as a vessel for a god’s descent. Despite Enilu’s fears, Sifa agrees to guide the investigators into the mountains as the threat escalates beyond their normal capacity. 46 47 49 50
