Before entering the cave, Sifa had made ample preparations. He had tossed a box of matches outside the cave, inside which was a miniature remote-controlled bomb he had set up. Whenever necessary, he could detonate the tiny bomb to create flames and escape using Flaming Jump.
His pocket held a stack of roughly cut paper figurines. He also carried a canteen, though it contained seawater, naturally not for drinking, but as a vessel for "Holy Water." He had already used Ghost Scream to make a canteen of Holy Water.
If there was danger, flee immediately.
Don't show off.
Don't take risks.
Staying alive mattered more than anything.
After reminding himself of that, Sifa entered the cave. Not long after going inside, he came upon stone steps leading downward.
Sunlight filtered into the cave through cracks in the mountain or holes dug by hand. The surroundings were fairly bright, though not enough for Sifa to make out the entire place clearly.
What kind of person insisted on living in such a dim cave? Wouldn't living outside be much better?
This place looked just like a tomb.
His thoughts wandering, Sifa descended the steps and saw weeds growing on the ground. Scattered among them were wooden spears, torches, stone bowls, and even an intact dog skeleton.
He kicked aside some debris, picked up a torch from the grass, and ran his hand over it. Crimson light appeared, igniting the torch.
Holding it aloft, Sifa walked forward and saw houses built along the contours of the cave. Some were made of wood, others of stone. They stood at varying heights, scattered haphazardly throughout the space without any apparent planning.
Many of those houses had already collapsed, especially the wooden structures, which had become heaps of ruins.
After walking for a while, he saw
