As the foothold of the Loen Kingdom's colonial rule in the Central Sonia Sea, Bayam was one of the region's largest cities. Besides the spice trade, the brothel industry was another major pillar of the Rorsted Archipelago's economy.
The most famous brothel in Bayam was undoubtedly the Red Theater. Beyond it, brothels large and small, overt and hidden, flourished everywhere, forming a distinctive part of Bayam's scenery.
Walking along Sea Defense Street in search of an inn, Sifa saw scantily clad, bold women waving to him from alleyways. Some even grabbed him and tried to drag him into the alleys. Although none of them succeeded, he certainly got a taste of Bayam's local character.
The women here were more direct and more explicit than those in Backlund!
After walking for a while, Sifa followed a friendly local's recommendation to Sour Lemon Street in the Dock District, where he found an inn.
"Azure Wind. Sounds pretty good." Looking away from the inn's sign, Sifa walked through the entrance and said to the owner behind the counter, "One room."
He spoke in Loenese.
This was a Loen colony, after all, so Loenese worked here too.
The rather thin owner raised his head and forced a brilliant smile onto his face. In broken Loenese with a local accent, he said, "Of course, of course. Would you like a room with a sea view, or somewhere quieter?"
"One with a sea view."
"No problem, no problem."
The owner called over an attendant to watch the counter, picked up a key himself, and said, "Sir, how many days will you be staying? It's one soli and five pence a night."
"One night for now. I'll let you know if I need to stay longer."
