For a moment, everyone in the room turned their eyes to Sifa.
Lynn asked with considerable interest, "And what is your method?"
"Heh heh, Dream Divination. As long as I have an object belonging to the target, I can use Midnight Dream to obtain a certain degree of revelation.
"Unless that gentleman has been unlucky enough to provoke an evil god or some other high-sequence entity, I should be able to learn his current location."
Sifa picked up the sheets of drawing paper and smiled. "That is a trade secret, Mr. Lynn."
Then he said to Cromwell, "I need a quiet room where I won't be disturbed."
The arbiter stood up. "Follow me."
Sifa entered his study. Once Cromwell closed the door, Sifa was the only one left in the room.
Sifa sat down on the armchair and glanced at the drawings in his hand. Although these drafts were not the sort the artist carried around with him, the painter had poured emotion into them, allowing them to form a connection with the divination target.
Sifa took some paper and a pen from nearby and wrote down a divination statement: Paliston's current location.
Once he had finished writing, he stacked the drawings together with the sheet bearing the divination statement and held them in his hand.
Then Sifa leaned back in his chair, relaxed his body, entered a meditative state, and silently repeated, "Paliston's current location," over and over.
Midnight Dream, worn on his little finger, lit up with a profound black radiance. The light in the study dimmed, as though night had arrived early.
