At the dungeon entrance, a captain with a red sweatband tied around his head shouted loudly, trying to calm the guards and keep those timid fellows from being scared away from their posts.
Before he could finish, however, his head suddenly burst open. His corpse fell backward onto the ground, startling several nearby soldiers into jumping back.
Gunshots kept ringing out from the deep darkness ahead. Amid the flickering muzzle flashes, the soldiers at the dungeon entrance were struck one after another and fell.
A moment later, a figure emerged, holding Blood Praise. It was Sifa.
He had doused the villa in fish oil and set it ablaze. To avoid attracting the attention of the half-human, half-Demigod in the manor, Sifa had obediently used matches rather than his own abilities.
Once the villa caught fire, the three-in-one Ancient Bane quickly arrived. Just as Sifa had expected, it alerted the Marionettist within the villa.
The suspected Rose School Demigod immediately targeted the Ancient Bane upon appearing, and the two began fighting.
Sifa had hidden in a corner at the time. When he saw the creature being tangled up in its own cloak, he silently counted himself lucky.
Lucky that he had used hypnotic suggestion to lure the creature over. Otherwise, under that Demigod's bizarre abilities, he might have been killed before even getting the chance to summon a Status Projection.
The Marionettist's ability to control inanimate objects was truly bizarre. Against a High Sequence powerhouse like that, even the clothes on his body could become the opponent's weapons at any moment. There was simply no guarding against it.
